I have an Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 motherboard with an Intel Core i5, Windows 7 Pro. From the beginning software was installed on my machine (from Asus?) that runs in the background and displays on the msconfig Start Up list as "AMD Dual-Core Optimizer". With an Intel CPU does this do anything for my machine or is it just another resource hog running and doing nothing?

If it was me, I'd disable it. From my understanding, some games install it without asking. You might even see a small boost in fps.

You mean I might see a small boost in fps with it DISABLED, correct? If it does nothing, should I simply remove it in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel? Thanks for your time. J. Edited by jseidel - 24 Jun 2012 at 9:08am |

I would just leave it alone for now.
But if problems occur in the future, disable it to see if that process was the occurring problem |

I would disbable it for now and make sure there isn't any issues. I can't possible see what that would do for your quad core. In another forum some did say it helped a bit with frames, but not by much. Your call as always.

A lot of AMD tie in are because games, such as Tribes Ascend for example 'benefit' for AMD based cards - so they install AMD software to improve that experience.
