here's the article: http://www.techspot.com/news/42411-rumor-amd-is-up-for-sale-dell-may-be-interested.html
hell no! amd better not be bought by dell. like I really hate their processors but love what they have done with their graphics cards. like dell buying them would suck since dell has a know effect of making everything crappy as hell. Edited by maxyme - 17 Feb 2011 at 12:16am |

If that happens AMD will really go into the crapper. Dell screws up everything it buys!!!

I see how this would be good for dell so they can cut costs on getting gpus and cpus while charging the same but all dells i know use intel so its kinda surprising but if this becomes true i'll be so pissed.

Taking on AMD's massive debt would only raise costs for Dell.

It'd be digging AMD's grave IMO...And when Dell's product sales eventually sinks farther when people realize HP's superiority, Dell's done for. Muhuhahaha.

lol dell should have been dead a long time ago... but it would suck if amd dies because they bring down ati with them and i like competition for nvidia because it makes them come out with better features.

true that. so...let's see what we have here. because of dell taking over AMD, AMD will crapify more, and likely fail, going down the drain. nVidia will lose competition, and dominate the GPU market. because of that, who knows what will happen with the nvidia/Intel relationship.
WHYYYY DELL WHYYYYY..... |

who know's eventually there will be no need for gpus anymore. it will eventually all be on the chip with no other cards needed. its already happening and that's the future

If Dell were a person, I would tell it to run into oncoming traffic.
It would suck if NVidia started producing lower quality products just b/c AMD was no longer competing with them. Everything Dell touches turns to crap. |

but not anytime soon since even with these huge gpus games still demand more and the intel on board gfx are terrible compared to the gtx 5xx series |

Then....why is Intel going after discrete GPU solutions as well...? Still remember Larrabee?

intel is making them to cater to the low-mid end consumers but for high end for now and probably a while we will stick with gpus

Wasn't Larrabee canceled a long time ago? Discrete onboard GPUs will never become the future, at least not anytime in the foreseeable future, I dunno what Raif is going on about. We will need dedicated powerful GPUs to keep up with gaming demands for a looong time to come. |

uh... this better not be true or i will never hear teh end of it from justen
i dont think that AMD would sell out becasue their stock has been riseing steadly sence the sandy bridge SSD issue (aka sence i started to kinda care)
any chip maker today really cant fail THAT badly. especalyl with AMD's epic GPU sales in 2010. and bulldozer right around the corner!
then intel would have a monoply and IDK what woudl happen then

Personally I dont see bulldozer knocking intel down any if it was that great why isnt amd giving out more info since the sandybridge MB fiasco.IMHO dozer might might I say beat the current SB cpu,s but once the next SB come out in Q4 then back to the drawing board for amd.

well all this is great news for intel, Just putting any dell logo on something will make even fan boys leave that product. dell buys amd = 40% amd loyal fanboys hope over to intel/nvidia
Hell soon as I saw dell buying out alienware i didnt even bother to ever look at alienware again, nor read about any alienware reviews.
I'm just hoping this is amd's way to avoid IRS by selling it.
move over and make another company

I bought a Alienware laptop just before (about 6 months) Dell bought them. Then when I needed to reformat my HDD's(a few years later) I couldnt use the "special floppy drivers" that were required to reformat. This is why I never bothered to look at alienware again. If this happens I will be seriously pissed because I really do like ATI/AMD GPU's over NVIDIA's just because I do.

I don't mind it, as long as they don't change the names of it's products from AMD Phenom II X6 to Dell Phenom II X6 or AMD Radeon HD to Dell Radeon HD.
