Hey all
Was configuring an AMD build on Dstorm site and it appears that the AM4 sockets MB's do not support Raid 5 SATA without a raid card ? Far as i can see on the Ryzen builds here only Raid 0,1,10 are supported ? Am I forced to use a raid card ? Edited by Xgen - 13 May 2020 at 9:06pm |

I'm no raid expert or even user, but when I selected identical drives for "Storage Set"(s) 1,2, and 3, I was able to request a Raid 5 array in "Raid Options for $10. The Configurator makes the assumption everyone wants an SSD for Storage Set 1, so to have 3 identical drives, they all have to be the same SSD to conform to that set-up. If you want three HDDs, I'm certain you can request that, but the configurator doesn't present that option.
If you'd want 3 M.2 slots for 3 Firecudas in your array, I know the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon is one, and there may be another or two. You'd have to ask. Hope it helps. |

Thanks Cretae
It just throws me off since the Mfg site for any of the MB specifically say only 0,1,10. But of course you can select it as an option here so i'm curious how DS gets away with it lol Edited by Xgen - 13 May 2020 at 11:48pm |

Well, that makes a big difference. The Configurator is not an AI genius, and it seems to be a flaw in the way it's set up. I DID NOT have the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon selected when it said I could go 3x NVMes. I had to look that up. If you submitted it the way the Configurator allows, obviously alarms would go off at DS, (duh we can't do that w/o a card) but that would be an unwelcome surprise.
Tread carefully, my friend, and dot your i's. |
