I was pretty settled on a system pending the outcome of some SSD/TRIM/RAID1 research (see my other posts). But I've found a way to make things work without RAID1 and without a dedicated audio recording disk. So, now I'm looking at an SSD for OS/Apps and a 1 or 2 TB data disk only. Eliminating 2 mechanical drives should further reduce noise and heat which is great for my application.

I'm still interested in a fairly quiet machine for audio production and home video editing and coding primarily. I'll be using my 30" monitor and won't be doing much, if any, gaming.

Using the great advice folks have already given me on this forum I put together this build:

What do you think?

Note that I stuck with the 950si chassis even though I've only got 2 drives and 1 gpu for now... I figured more room = better airflow = quieter pc. Overkill?

Thanks,
Maxage

well room wise its the same as haf as far as hdd and stuff goes, airflow wise the haf is better, quieter I'm not so sure about, sine most of the noise comes from the gpu's fans when under load, so I'm not sure if the gpu fan is taken out of the equation the noise will be noticeable.

change your os to win7 pro, for your use in the future you my want more ram as you already have total of 13GB and win7 home can only do 16GB total, win7 pro can do 128GB.
