Like many, have looked around and long story short, look to you for a config.
Looking to buy within the next week or so unless you think I ought to wait a month or so.

1) Monitor size and general resolution most games will be played on

Currently a 22" monitor with resolution-1440x1050 (I know but it was a good one a while back LOL) but will upgrade the monitor to 1920x1080. Would love the 24" Dell but will see.  Will settle for a lesser gpu card if needed for a future crossfire.

2) Budget-2000 or around. Unfortunately chose a career that does not pile up the fortunes! LOL Seen the many, many builds DST4ME and others have done for others so will let you all recommend. Knowledgeable about pcs to some extent but see the guarantee and piece of mind worth letting the experts build instead of my prior attempts or lack of time. With income tax, maybe can stretch it a little.

3) whether you will use any equipment from your last computer on the new computer (keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor etc) that way we can budget that out of the build
Reusing my G15 keyboard, Razr mouse and Nostromo Keypad(about wore it out) and want to reuse my Asus Xonar sound card from a failed build so will need a slot for that if possible.

4) General uses to be done on the computer. (gaming, college work, internet etc.)
Main use-mainly gaming such as MW2, BAD CO. 2, Far Cry 2, old pc is about to roll over and won't play any of the newest games very well.
Can give send you my e-mail if needed. Thanks in advance and look forward to your reply.

$2007, free game, free t-shirt, free vid card boost, room to grow, pretty damn close to your budget. I'm sure if you call to order your computer instead of buy off of the internet, you can request which game you want, but I could be wrong...

what you do is oc the gpu yourself to a good point and then you will have a performance of a 5870, and that is all you need for 1900 x 1200.

That looks really good! Would it be worth going with the other MB with the 3 slots, know this will CF or SLI just fine, but with the sound card if I add it. Just wanted to think about the future. Friend gave me some good advice, to get what I want now because you won't do it in the future and would be worth it. Looked at the Dell monitor you recommend, sweet and want one like that. Know that is about as cheap as you can get that type of panel for.

The EVGA that is one sale. Noticed not to much of a price difference want to do this right so that if I need to add to it, say another gpu or so, whatever. And if it performs better.
BTW, really like the change in the Memory and the Noctua cooler, was really wanting that. My current cpu (one I built) has a tendency to heat up at times. Why I decided to let you professionals do it! Also, income tax is better than thought, so a few more dollars for a change or two are available. What do you think of the hd, worth a 1 tb or a raid?
Also, about my sound card. Some of the posts say better to use onboard audio, others say opposite. Do not want to mess with a good thing when I get it.

soundcard realy is an easy choice. Do you have Logitech speakers? or similar? then use onboard, using a good set of speakers like audioengine A5's, Swan M200MkII's or III's or similar use a dedicated sound card, or if you have a high end pair of headphones.

the 3x sli gives you two x16 lanes while le gives you one. if you can do so and think you will need dual sli (2560 x 1600) in the future then go with 3x sli, tho le will do it for you also with just a few fps difference.
