Typically, you have to switch the output from speakers to headphones.

Not to insult you, but there is two ports. One for Mic and one for speakers. You need a splitter that connects to your wired headset that goes to each one of these ports. They are pretty cheap. If you have done this already, I may google it or troubleshoot some options.
