Hey all, looking for input on my config.

Questions:
What would be the performance increase I'd see if I used 1800MHz RAM?
Will the 280 handle gaming on a 32" HD 720p tv with 40fps+?

Trying to keep the system under $3800, but have a max budget of $4000.

as for 1800Mhz ram I'm not sure, with the penryn chip I would tell you nothing you would notice but the i7 is different, but I'm not sure how much difference it makes and if its noticeable or not.

I would say the 1600MHz for now is good

I'm not sure about your fps question.

720p is 1280x720 so yes. GTX 280 is overkill for that low of a resolution.

i dont know if its just me but my hd tv is not the best monitor I have 32inch 720p/1080i and I game at 1360x768 have some issues with graphics looking like stairs or or ridges when moving. I do get about 90fps avg on cod5 with just the one gt280 crysis is the only game it struggles with I average 20fps in that on very high settings on high setting I get around 35.

Sweet.  Thanks all.  I'm really looking forward to get my hands on intel's new chip.

BTW, does anyone know if DS has any problem mailing to PO Boxes?  I never thought about that until now...

-edit-

Oh, and does anyone have info on what the Core i7 940 can OC to?

We can mail to P.O. Boxes, but, you would need to do some verification steps and it would have go out via U.S. Postal Mail. This would also have extra costs.

Warm Regards,
Alex

the 940 should go around 3.8 or higher I would assume with LC, and you are very welcome, that is a great processor
