So I had another friend with a 3570k that wanted me to overclock it for him.  Not only did I get it to a 4.4ghz at an amazing vcore... but I have a picture to show you some temps of it rendering a 1440p video with multi layers of audio, text, and video.

That Corsair H100i keeps this baby nice and cool.  And look at that voltage!?!?!  This has to be the best 3570k I've ever OC'd for anyone.  Most people on average need 1.25v for a 4.5ghz OC.  I could probably hit 4.5ghz with like 1.225v.

I'm too pro for my own good. ;)  But seriously, anyone who is wondering how good the H100i is for a cooling solution.  I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.  I'm not sure the upgrade price here on DS systems, but they retail from $99-$119 depending on where and when.  Spend the extra $$ and upgrade to it.  It's worth it.

I gotta say, that is a real nice vcore.  Strong   You either have the magic touch or that chip was cut from dead-center on the sheet.     I vote, you. Big%20Smile

In case you never noticedWhoa  I like the air coolers.  Now, before you unleash your rapier wit on me Hahaha  the sealed units really are nice and have come a looong way from the initial offerings.  Just me, but the less that can go wrong the better for me.  Just a product of my job.     That being said, my next build just might have a sealed unit.    I like different and something new to play with.

Nice job on the 3570k.  Awesome

Oh I completely hear you. I didn't start using custom loops until about a year and a half ago.  My very first LC ever was the Corsair H50.  Back when it was first released and closed loops were first making their appearance.  I'm a huge fan of them now.  I was anti-liquid for the longest time for the exact same reason.

But you really can't go wrong with a closed loop, especially if it's a corsair product.  Of course no one likes to deal with RMA's, thankfully they are link tested and covered incase of a leak. So you're safe.  But in all reality for someone who doesn't want the huge risk of a LC system, the closed loops are a great option if you're into higher overclocks.  I support all corsair products lol, but especially their closed loop coolers. The H100/H100i and H110 are just amazing coolers. The H80 is a great solution too if you're not looking for a dual 120 rad. (space saving).

This 3570k is amazing. Last one required about 1.21 for me to get to 4.4ghz stable (I do a 24hr stress test on all my OC's).

Curious... did you have any trouble setting up Corsair Link?  A recent forum member did and I've read of some issues.  I believe its needed to control the fans.

Nope, not a single problem. In fact, I've never had a single issue in any pc that I've installed any Corsair Link item in.   And I'd be more than willing to help anyone who has any questions about the installation of a link hardware.

Not to sound like a total 'noob' (although I am - lol), so would you recommend the H100i over Noctura?  I'll be purchasing around tax time and I'm just kind of looking at the options now.

I would still recommend the Noctua for tops in reliability, quiet and no fan speeds to mess with.  It just works for years with no issues.   But, the H100i has come a long way.  It does cool great, is smaller for easier access to ram.  If I did get a H100i, it would be more to tinker with it, to see for myself what's up.

You might get a different answer from Meller, which is all good.   They both work.

I agree with bp22 - since both cool the same, go with the Noctura for reliability. Unless you're using a case that's too small for it, then the H100i would still be a great choice...

I don't, I say up it and get the H100i.  The noctua is great is all but it's massive and takes up a lot of room in your case.  If you just put it in there, without taking into consideration of air flow in your case, you could basically just end up installing a huge wall that interrupts proper air flow.

The h100 will be quieter, and will keep your cpu cooler on OC temps.  For the price range of $100 (give or take $20) I say the H100/H100i/H110 are the top choices.  They are maintenance free (minus dust if you don't have positive pressure in your case).  It's just the way to go.  There are so many pro's vs the Noctua.

I was thinking getting the Haf-X case (adding one additional fan) and getting the Digital Storm RAM so I don't think the issues mentioned should be an issue (although as I said I'm not very knowledgeable)...I'm definitely leaning toward the Noctura unless there's a significant improvement etc. using the H100i.

I don't like that kind of weight on top of my cpu personally.  But that's just me.
