i know that a tx 295 will kill a gtx 285 and 2 285 will kill ONE 295 so will
2 295 beat 3 285
just wordering and i know you will geve me an answer becasue you guys are amazing

crap also is ther a way that 3  285 can beat 2 295 is the 295 beat 3 staranderd 285
trying to decied on 1 285 then 2 then 3 or 1 295 then 2
 
the 2 295 would be cheaper thow and save room....

Yes, 3 285's will beat 2 295s. If you're saving money getting the 3 285s I would purchase it because the 3 285s should be more expensive.

I think you'll need the EVGA Classified for that. I don't know if any other board has enough room to pull it off. The setting for physx is in the driver. There should be an option there to choose which GPU you want to do the physx calculations.

time out.

first of all a 295 will smoke a 285 in high res.

2 x 285 will beat 1 x 295, however it does not kill it, as a matter of fact the difference is like 5fps. while the 2 x 285 is like 5fps faster, it costs over $250 - $300 more also. so you pay $250 and get 5 more fps.

now

same thing with 3 x 285 vs 2 x 295, again yes the 3 x 285 is faster in some games by 5fps, in some games they are even, and in some games 2 x 295 does beat 3 x 285. again 3 x 285 will cost more then 2 x 295.

conclusion:

is 2 x 285 faster then 1 x 295? some games by 5pfs, some games even, some game the 295 is faster.

is the 2 x 285 or 3 x 285 worth $250-$300 more for the 5 fps over 1 x 295 and 2 x 295? IMO hell no.

at the same time the 3 x 285 takes up a third pci slot, and also you will need 6 x 6 Pin power connector to run them.

with 2 x 295 you play less and don't have the above needs/problem.

Well he said he can get the 3 gtx 285s for cheaper so if he has the slots and is saving, why not get the 3 285s?

but if you don't care about all that and you can get the 285 cheaper then do so, but I'm not understanding how he can get 3 x 285 cheaper.

A 295 is more than enough unless your resolution is more than 1920 X 1200.

Tman. It infact does not say that the 285s would be cheaper, It states that the 2 295s would be cheaper.

I would only go for the 3 285s for the ability to Triple buffer and eye candy your games better with the extra ram (if you go with the high ram model)  Triple buffering with the eye candy AA is why I usually go for sli over the 2boards in one.  If its an older game you can also just sli 2 and use the 3rd for physics. 
 
Only go with the Double boards if
1 no room in case
2 not enough power from power supply for sli'd
3 you game at 1900 or lower res.
4 of course money

there is no difference between 3 x 275 and 3 x 285 in games right now on high settings (8x aa 16x af).
