Topic: Anti Virus 2 Hard DrivesPosted: 16 Jul 2008 at 11:48am |

My new computer that is being shipped has 2 hard drives. One drive has windows XP and the other has vista home premium 64 bit version. My question is that since both drives will have internet access, I suppose I will need a virus and spy ware program on each drive? Is this correct? Is there a better way? Any help appreciated.........Thanks

For active protection yes, you will need a 32 bit app for XP and a 64 bit app for Vista x64

If you run ESET security suite, they allow you to use the same product key with two different operating installs if it is on the same computer at no additional cost.

I do not know anything about ESET, that is a great deal if they have a 64 bit version for Vista.

They do, and you can use the same product key on multiboot installations.

I just did a quick check on ESET they do not offer or support a 64 bit OS version, so they are not an option for the 64 bit partition from what I can see on their site.

Strange that it is not listed on their site, the 64 bit version is on my ESET installation disk. It definitely supports 64 bit OS.

It does not surprise me, I have found in supporting remote users in our company that many anti-virus companies still consider 64 bit operating systems to be an insignificant market share.

Hmm I looked Eset up after tyler mentioned it in another post and thought it did support 64 bit OS, I had planned on useing it for my antivirus. I'll have to go through the site a little better or contact them. Seemed like a good product, always used nortons but I get sick of it at times.

Hey, thanks guys, I'll check ESET out. Like you said if 64 bit is available, that is a deal!!! Since you have 64 bit on your system from ESET sounds like a go...... Do you know anything about NOD32 protection? Just saw it mentioned in a post, don't know anything about it? Thanks.......
