I'm close to placing an order, but I was hoping to get some feedback on my configuration. Please feel free to give your opinion on what I should/should not do. Also, is there any way to upgrade the thermal compound? If anyone has already ordered a similar machine, please let me know your thoughts. Also, is the 8800 GTS the G92 version?

You could probably get away with stage 2 cooling if all youre gonna do is overclock the CPU.
The Power supply is too much for only one gfx card, though if you plan to go SLI later then its alright. You might even be able to get by with a 620W.
They are out of stock for 8400 CPUs, and wont have stock again till the end of this month, early next month. Keep that in mind.
I personally would just get a bigger harddrive for the money that im paying for the raptor. I just dont like them very much. Id rather have more space then slightly faster loading speeds.
Rest seems alright though. Might wanna talk closer with a DS rep about maybe seeing if the 1066 ram is kinda overkill for you. In many reguards 800 will be a better bang for the buck ratio. But i still dont know much about that ram stuff to even give a really educated opinion on it.

Thanks for the info. I did choose the 750w PSU with the idea of SLI, I already own one 8800 GTS. Bummer about the 8400s, is that 100% certain? I currently have a 160 GB HD, which I only used 116 GB in 3 years so I think I'll stick with the Raptor. I could always add another later if I need extra space, I guess. I've been wondering about the 1066/800 choice on the RAM. I keep going back and forth so I guess I picked the higher to be safe. I'll def bounce it off of them b4 ordering.
