Hi All, returning here after using my 2015 Velox build every day. 2015 build being passed down to son, so need a new build for myself and researching whether or not made any obvious mistakes or incompatible part picks.

Expectations: currently on 24" monitor @1920x1200 on ultra settings with first generation VR - within 18 months, moving to 2x 27" monitors, 4k plus VR with next generation

Usage: general MS Office work, but gaming on weekends with kids/LAN play FPS/strategy games/survival-build games

Looks good to me.   Think you should opt for the larger Corsair H115i 280 mm AIO cooler...and then you are able to handle that Stage 2 OC on the 9900K much easier.

No argument here. Looks good.

You might look at this website for another MOBO option.

Thanks for the review/replies. I will take a look at the other MB but to be honest apart from one Gigabyte MB, I have been using ASUS for the past three decades of building/buying computers and they seem to last forever.

Just suggesting a middle ground alternative that compares very well with the Maximus. I own the Asus ROG Strix.
