Is the industry going to release any new and improved equipment in the next several months (NLT APRIL)?

I am getting ready to build and purchase my next computer (from DS) but will be 4 - 8 weeks, so I was wondering if the industry has any new stuff coming out (sound cards, video cards, hard drives, optical drives, etc.)

Should I wait?

Thanks,

RR

Hi radarRick...Nvidia is set to release new graphic cards in the April time frame.  I don't know the performance but I'd guess they'll be pretty good, but probably more $$$
Of course April could be psuhed out.

If you are going to wait 8wks then you need to ask this question then. By then we will have a better handle on when the new Nividia stuff will be out.

The new 4 core 3820 will be available this month for $285. At least that is the projected cost and release date. This will give you a 4 core on the X79 platform (socket LGA2011). That makes it a few dollars cheaper than the 2600/2700 CPUs. For todays gaming the X79, 3820 will give you support for Tri SLI at a better price than the 3930K or 3960X. The only problem I see so far is the 3820 is using more power than the 2600K. Their OC frequencies will be the same range. It will be nice to have a 4 core Mobo that will handle Tri SLI correctly.
