As the customer service director working here at Digital Storm I hardly get to see action, I feel like Marine living in a perfect world.

I want to hear about everyone's worst experience dealing with a customer service rep.

I was talking to a Dell manager once and I asked to speak to her "higher up".  She responded to me in the snottiest tone as well as barely perceptable English by saying "their is nobody more or less valuable here at Dell".  This is after over 45 minutes of being swapped around to different departments (no exageration here).

The only thing I could say to her was "of course I'm not referring to intrinsic value here, find the person that could fire you and give the phone to them."  lol I got nowhere.

Kinda one of those 'you had to be there' stories but any experience I have had with that company has been the worst.  Takes at least 20 minutes to talk to the person you'll have to really deal with for any particualr issue.

What I don't get is you clearly had a problem, and I would say 90% of time if your not asking for something ridiculous it can be done or at least come to terms on something (middle ground)

They did the transfer game on you, the one where they transfer you around so many time that you give up.

I had to deal with $%^& Capital one and they are located in another country (Cant prove it, but I know it)

It's like everything i asked for they had to read it teleprompter.Big%20smile

Now you hit the nail on the head! lol  I believe that the transfer thing is specifically designed so you do indeed 'give up'.  Call me a conspiracy theorist but I really believe that lol.

Oh I also had a BOA visa card and when contesting some fees a rep told me "I am going to law school so I know".  What kind of asnswer is that lol. Also, he could barely speak english as well.

There is a girl working at the Starbucks close to my house I flirt with all the time. I finally decided to ask her out and her reply was "I would but I'm married". Needless to say, I was not satisfied.

This is what happened to my friend's parents with Dell. He can't navigate a BD menu on his computer. He calls Dell. They can't figure it out. They send him a new BD drive.

While the drive is en route, I stop over and check it out. He can already see the menu. Therefore, he should obviously be able to navigate. He demonstrates it isn't workable with the mouse. Hello?! Try that keyboard you got Smile(that was the answer to his problem, by the way)

Well as an expat living in Italy there was that time when I had to wait 63 day's to obtain a license plate for my car.

We basically give the forms to an intermediary, she lost them found then again sent them to the relevant government office which promptly lost it and were found after 20 calls, so after a month and a half things were finally on track and then get this: The idiot official whose only job was to rubber stamp and sign the forms takes a 2 week and finally gets back last week.

And all this time my shiny (albeit second hand) civic was collecting dust in the garage.
So I guess my wost customer service award goes to the Italian Bureaucracy.

Actually it's a few blocks down across the street of the Mira Mesa Edwards Stadium 18. I usually hang out there with friends when waiting for a movie. It was definitely false advertisement since she didn't even wear a wedding band. That venti soy caramel macchiato tasted pretty bitter after the rejection. Do you think the new DST computer would impress her enough to change her mind? Embarrassed

how about spending over 14 hours on the phone with Dell to get a HDD replaced.(less then 6 month old comp) I had purchased the NEXT DAY AT HOME SERVICE and it took two weeks for the replacement to happen. The tech Dell sent had explicet instructions to remove the old drive install the new one and nothing else, No operating system no drivers, nada.... He started to leave without saying anything and the wife noticed he was taking the old HDD... She very politly told the ASS that if he walked out the door with our personal info that was on the HDD that he would be arrested before he would get off the property.(Officer lived next door in our apt complex and knew of situation). The tech started to argue but relented when the wife showed him a pic of me next to her. (she 5'2" 120# Me 6'5" 300#) and that I was pissed and be home in a min. He handed her the HDD the return box and shipping label and ran to his car and left, never to be heard from again.

My Worst:  Dish Network.  They wouldn't let me disconnect.

My best worst:  Dell.  After discussing the terrible performance of my Wife's 1210 notebook for around 9 hours and several days they finally gave me an English speaking person who sent a tech out to install a new CPU.  The CPU was a $450 upgrade free Ouch

* I took out the HD and put a SSD in it, installed more ram, and put Win 7 on it recently.  WoW, what a difference!

Well I did call Sarah once about shipping to Italy, and what with shipping cost and warranty, sales tax, import tax, and DHL administrative tax I decided that financially speaking it wasn't worth it.

I'll tell you what if digitalstorm ever decides to open a EU/UK shop like cyberpower, I'll be the first in line.

You'll love this story, cause it's regarding VoodooPC.

Anyway, back in late 2004 (before I knew about DS), I was shopping around for a new PC. I decided to try VoodooPC, despite some bad press. So I put an order in for a air cooled rig. Anyway, a few weeks passed by, it was close to delivery time, and I contact them to tell them I was considering a water cooled system, and wanted to cancel the order. They fed me a line of bullsh*t about it was a custom rig, and it would be a 25% restocking fee. Now, it's not like I ordered anything beyond the basic selections on their configuration page, so I would not have called it custom. At no point as I was making the original purchase did they explain the restocking fee, and keep in mind this was a $6,500 machine, so a lot of money to cancel, without even seeing the damm thing. They said that they would support future upgrades, it would be the highest quality, all that stuff, so I ended up upgrading to a water cooled system. Now this change was in December, my system wasn't sent to me for another 3 MONTHS. Keep in mind, the components were not much different from ones I ordered in the air cooled system that was supposed to have been completed!

Once I got it, was was actually a very fast and quiet PC, and was actually pretty happy with it. About a month later, things changed. I started getting these noises, which sounded like loud erking sounds of bubbles cavitating thru the pump. I called them, and they said to top it off with distilled water, which I did, but it would keep coming back. Eventually, the CPU cooler block sprung a leak, which in turn dropped down to my PSU. I was NOT happy. I did a little research on the cooling system, since I knew what they used. It was a cheap $200 cooling kit, which they priced out as $2,000. But that is not the best part. The best part was the PDF manual specifically stated that only the LOWER chamber of the reservoir should go out to toward the pump, ie they installed the f#cking thing backwards!!! I called them, told them what idiots they were, told them I wanted them to fix the reservoir to what the manufacturer specified, the CPU block, and to replace the PSU since it was now a fire hazard and threatened to sue them if they didn't.

They did do all the work, and I did get the machine back in working order. I haven't opened the PSU to confirm it was new, but I didn't want to push my luck. You would think that would be the end of it, but it wasn't. A couple months later, I got a notice from the State of NJ threatening to sue me in tax court. Turns out when I sent it back, I had to declare a value and pay a tariff on it to ship it back. The state got word of it, and said I didn't declare it since sales tax wasn't paid. I checked with my personal tax accountant, she said I was liable, and I had to spend another $600 on back taxes for this thing cause Voodoo PC hadn't charged me up front.

But wait, there's MORE! Around the time this tax thing happened, my PC started acting up. Turns out that the RAM was clocked just a bit too high, and was getting corrupted. Voodoo had me run a memory check, and it was faulty, so they sent me new memory. This worked for a little while, till the memory went bad again. I don't know if you ever had to deal with faulty RAM, but it's like your PC having cancer. It's a slow painful death. You get problems here and there, then before you know it, your drive is corrupted from having invalid data written to your drive. I LOST ALL MY DATA! When I replaced the RAM this time, I bought the cheap stuff at a Circuit City, and guess what, no issue this time, guess it tells you what kind of crap Voodoo PC was using.

And finally, after about 3 or so years, I figured I was due for an upgrade. I called up Voodoo PC since they promised me they would do upgrades for a price on any of their systems they sell. At this point, I thought maybe this would make up for all the bad experiences so far, and maybe I should see what they had to offer. They eventually told me my system was too old, I would have to buy a new one. This was also a load of crap, it was the same case but the product was changed the name from Rage to Omen. They weren't even willing to consider upgrading my system, but they did tell me how much better their new systems were.

I had enough of these a$$hole$. I went on the customer service boards on their website, told them my horror story, how dissatisfied I was with them, all the crap I went thru, etc. I told EVERYONE on that board DO NOT BUY A VOODOO PC. And the response I got from them was being banned from their message boards. So basically, they have managed to f#ck me at ever possible opportunity.

This is an example of how NOT to run a company. They set too many false expectations, and did not deliver on their promises. If you open up a PC Gamer, you won't see glittering advertisements of Voodoo PC anymore, and this story (along with others) are why. So my advise to ANYONE out their looking for a new system, research who you buy from, AND DO NOT EVER EVER EVER BUY A SYSTEM FROM VOODOO PC!!!!!!

this is what i hate about buying PCs from manufacturing companies

at the end, they just screw you over and FORCE you to buy a completely new computer...a computer was meant to be upgraded and to last....manufacturers have brainwashed everyone else with the wrong idea...

thankfully, I wasn't tech savvy back then, and didnt try to upgrade or do anything mildly extreme (oxymoron!) until I bought my first rig from DS, which means I won't have problems! Ermm

big company = lots of people = lots of people who don't know what their doing = horrible customer service = horrible company

beauty of DSO Embarrassed how big are you guys now, anyways?

you forgot Gabbers! Smile

oh, and my worst experience to Dell, to add to the pot

not CS related, but still. I had a Dell Latitude, you know, one of those really crappy business computers Dell makes. Anyways, for 2 years, i was sorta happy, worked fine, not even close to my hardware needs, but whatever, it worked. After 2 years, guess what? Dell's installed Windows XP decides to go happy one day and it deletes ALL MY FREAKIN' LAN. Re-enabling internal NIC failed, and wireless failed to show up on the screen. Still worked though, through the Intel Wireless Manager. The annoying thing was that the NIC still blinked when it was hooked up. The Dell just didnt remember how to use it. Hell, it still showed up in DEVICE MANAGER. Now I'm degraded by the fact that I have to use a $10 USB to 10/100 Mbps adapter.
Sigh...until I get a new laptop man...

*dreams*
