Mainly wondering if theres any problems with this Renegade config or if I can get roughly the same performance cheaper with a different computer/customization.
Ticket # is 580649. Would post link but the last time I did that it said I couldn't have links in the post and now I have to retype this whole post.
Budget is $2200 which this falls into with the new discount. I know shipping will put it over, but thats ok.
Using this for gaming. 1920 x 1080 HD resolution. Thats the common one right? Not looking to max settings for the next 3 years or anything, but I would like to keep high settings for awile. Id probably use a 2nd old monitor to surf the internet while gaming.
Couple questions. I notice that this only has 6GB or 12 GB DDR available. Im getting windows premium so I cant use more than 10GB right? Will I be able to upgrade to 8GB on my own or is that not possible?
Also, do I need the temp display or stage 2 fan? The basic lvl 4 renegade came with a standard fan but had stage 1 overclocking which recommended higher. I get the feeling that the temp display would just be nice to have, but if its not needed...
Finally, what is RAID? Do I need it? I just want to have the OS on the SSD and my other stuff on the 1 TB HDD. How much space will the OS take up anyway?
Thanks for any answers/insights. I only have a basic understanding of computer hardware so this would be a big help.

You are on the wrong platform, that is the old tech.
that whole build is not optimized to give you most power for your money at all, specially at your res. you are not getting premium to use 10GB, you are getting a 64bit os so that you can use more then 4GB which is a limit for a 32bit os. to max out games at your res for the next 2 years checkout ode 3 price is $200 more but the performance comparing to your build is night and day, plus you get sli 570 which will eat single 580 for snack. ode 3 thats one option for you. another is for you to go custom build but price is gonna be closet to ode 3 again : Here you go Ticket# 581358 --- $2,231 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (New B3 Revision) (Does Not Support SLI) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: 320 Series) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty this pc is much more powerful/reliable then the renegade. The build you posted says that I need a deluxe or pro motherboard to do stage 2 overclock. I also want a motherboard capable of SLI.
I altered the build a bit. How does this look? Tag # is 581381. Also, would it cause problems if I changed the tower to the AeroCool AeroEngine Plus and saved $125? |

I meant to pick the z68 mobo which is pro.
just because your mobo is sli capable does not mean you can do sli, you also need a psu that can support it, to give you proper sli, you need a 1000w corsair to sli 570. for your res you want sli 570 not 560, the sli 560 will do good now but by this time next year with newer games like bf3, they will be crying and so will you. the AeroCool is not saving you money, it giving you less airflow, haf is a beast and well worth the money, I would not change it to AeroCool. |

I see. Thank you for the quick and in depth replies. If the ode 3 is the best value then ill go for it. Ill have to wait for a bit to buy it tho. $2200 was really the max in my budget. Probably sometime in the coming weeks.

I like your mobo/cpu cooler/case better.
but ode has sli 570 and that wins. |
