Got my pc yesterday, wow...the shipping box for this thing is a beast. I have no plans for shipping it anywhere else and if I ever move again i can certainly pack it another way....any reason to keep this huge box?

This is a custom built computer, remember that, so it isn't one of those mass produced computers that Dell makes that bazillions of problems come in so they can fix them. Therefore, problems are likely to arise sometime or another, so keep the box for at LEAST 30 days with all the original packaging, just to save Digital Storm the trouble of having to resend you one if something so happens to go bad. If it happens, you'll probably be able to solve any problem over the phone, but if something big bad happens, "Better safe than sorry!"

I would keep it just in case it needed to go back.

I know it's a pain to find a place for that huge box, BUT remember, you have at least a 3 year warranty on your rig and if anything goes wrong within that time or you want to upgrade with DS; you'll be glad you kept the box. UPS, FEDEX, etc. , all seem to get a kick out of torturing shipments. You'll need all the insides, too.
The form fitting expanded foam is absolutely necessary to support your GPU cards, and mobo, ESPECIALLY if you have the NOCTUA 12 or 14 CPU cooler or the the BLACK OPS lqiuid cooling system. All of that inner support is necessary to protect the MOBO, etc.
I live in an apartment building with no extra storage on site. I have reserved about half my closet floor just for this box. Of course, I'll pack it to the gills with other stuff as well as the inner computer packing.
Another fellow I know got his mom to ,store the box in her attic, albeit she had one of those drop down staircases and not just an access hole.
My point is, try to find SOME way to keep it and hope you NEVER need it.
Good luck with your new rig, hope I've provided some insight......JPT Edited by jaypeetee44 - 16 Mar 2010 at 11:56am |

I tore my box to shreds and used it as breakfast cereal; trust me it tastes better than plain jane wheetabix.

I kept mine and still have it. I store all my left over computer parts and boxes in it.. Plus, I did have to send my system back one time and so thankfully I had the box and packing materials.
