Budget:  I'm hoping to not spend more than $2,000, and the build I created is almost $200 over that goal.  Now I'm flexible and that price would be fine, but I want to make sure I'm not wasting the extra money.  I already have a monitor/keyboard/mouse, so I only need the machine.

Expectations:  I really want a machine that can easily power through any current games on the highest settings and also not have to worry about meeting spec requirements for quite some time.  Probably 75% gaming, 25% audio editing

Usage:  This will primarily be for gaming, displaying on my old Vizio 47 inch, and possibly with my old 32 inch on the side as a second monitor.  I also plan to use it for quite a bit of audio editing.

Special needs:  I don't really have any particular special needs that I can think of.  I have a media server for all of my movies/music, I can always grab a can of Power Duster if things get bad, etc.  I really don't know how loud these PCs can get, but I would prefer it be as silent as possible.

Also, if you noticed, I mentioned that I would be using my 47 inch TV as a monitor...  Is this really advisable?  Are there any unforseen issues that might arise when doing this?

No problem with using the TV as a monitor, I have done the same. It's all about personal preference. What is the resolution you plan on gaming that? We use this to determine your GPU(s)

You're not gonna want that build.

The new p67 platform is better than the old x58, so switch the processor to 2600k, you'll have to start from a new build that has that option though.

Also if you're gaming at 1080 native res. you will see almost no improvement using a 580 over a 570, so to save cash drop it down to that

The corsair and noctura stage 2 air coolers outperform you're liquid cooler for the same price so you should switch to that.

Unless you have a 5.1 or 7.1 sound system the card is overkill too. They're gaming audio cards, for music editing you'd be better off buying your own pci-e card designed for music production.

If you are gaming on two monitors, you'd go over your budget paying for a system like that. And to make it silent is impossible but most of the PC noise comes from the gpu fans so it should only be loud during gaming

fwiw i hope your not going to be sitting close to those panels. Tv's are designed to be watched from a distance and look awful compared to proper monitors when viewed from a few ft away.

Lots of great tips to consider, thanks.  I'm a bit confused on the first one though. p67 platform, x58, 2600k processor?  The motherboard is 58x, but I don't know what you mean by p67 platform and don't see a "2600k" processor option anywhere.

I'll be gaming from across the room (I hear a lot of people say wireless gaming on PC sucks, but I've never once had an issue and am not a competitive gamer anyway), and when I'm sitting up close to write/read text and such, I'll probably stick to the smaller TV, which worked quite well as a monitor in the past.

Ok, didn't realize that the P67 and 2600k was only available under the "Black Ops" section.  Would it really be worth it for the price increase?  Ignoring that change, I'll be sitting nicely below my budget.  With the change, I go over the budget, and get a kinda fugly-looking case to boot.

Hi frofrodajimmyboy,

The 2600k is available in the Special Ops. I think all of the different cases are available with the 2006K. You just have to pick out the right level. Most of the level three use the 2006K. With this page layout you have to search out what you want.

for your res you gonna want sli 570 if you want to play games like bf3 on highest setttings but that will put you over the budget, so IMHO you should go with this and then add the ssd and the second gpu later yourself:
