You might want to go with a Razor or Asus sound card if you're going to be using this rig for gaming.

i was thinking the 900 would be little small for what i was ordering, but is the ocz ram i originally had in mind equal to the sli edition if its being overclocked? and the hard drive not being in raid 0 and not having a higher rpm, would that bottleneck any overclocking done to the cpu?

no, CPU OC is more CPU, mombo and ram.
the ram you had was 800MHz speed. so 800 ÷ 2 = 400 400 x 8.5 = 3400, meaning your max OC speed with that ram is 3.4GHz with liquid cooling and a q9550, we are expecting you to be more around 3.6GHz, but with 800MHz ram that will not be possible, so I moved up your ram to 1066MHz. HAF is a great case and since stock its pretty much stage 3, with you liquid cooling the CPU, the bigger fans can simply be responsible for cooling down the rest of your system. since you are in a budget, my recommendation is for you to get the most out of your money now, and add easy things later. for example few month down the road, the price of a veloci raptor will be down, you can get one then and use that as the OS drive. im still open to any other suggestions before my build passes stage 1, id like to stay out of DS's hair as much as possible while theyre doing the build, rather than find something out after theyve allready put it together
unless dst4me nailed it on the head with the changes i should make |

i tried messing around with ddr3's but dont like any of the outcomes
for the price, im going to be sticking with your suggestions, looked
into the recommendations you gave me and i now have peace of mind that
my build will be more than satisfying and ill still have enough money
left to pay off some neglected bills that are starting to nip at my feet
