I'll be getting a setup with DDR3 memory.  Any preferences on brands, given a similar clock speed?

Mushkin, Crucial, GSkill, Cosair, OCZ

those are what I would go with in order from first to last.

just go with whatever you like.

all of them have lifetime warranty & support. half of them have active forums and great rma service.

How can you choose Muskin, Crucial and GSkill over Corsair and OCZ? Both Corsiar and OCZ often display the best performance.

IMO it's Corsair>OCZ=Mushkin>Crucial=GSkill.

Crucial is Micron.

GSkill is cheap.

I prefer Mushkin over Corsair as they are a smaller company. And buying directly is also a big plus. Greg is also awesome.

OCZ is far far far far far way way way too mainstream with so much stupid different lines like fatality, ati, sli, intel, reaper, flexsomething, and the list goes on and on.

GSkill is cheap, not not necessarily the best value.

Mushkin is great, but their stuff is expensive and doesn't offer a huge performance increase over other top brands.

Just because OCZ is very mainstream doesn't mean they're bad. It's like buying not buying from Wal-Mart because they are a huge chain. If the quality is good then who cares about the rest? To each his own though.

Crucial is great I will agree, one of the top 3 for sure.

Many would disagree.

Obviously some fanboyism here rofl as Corsair has the most expensive ram on the market.

I don't buy from Walmart.

GSkill doesn't have great QC. Yeah sometimes you get a good pair of sticks that OC like mad but GSkill's consistency isn't that great [yet].

Corsair also releases top performing ram year after year, they are a reliable company. I'm talking only about the high-end stuff here btw. I bought 4gb of Mushkin's best DDR2-800 last year for $550. Expensive, but they are great sticks. Since I think Mushkin and Corsair are about equal quality I'll go with whichever I can get a better deal on. However I love the Dominators and their fans.

Everyone can do what they want and have their own opinions, but it's like people who say LOTR or The Matrix suck. It's like.......what?
