I've been seeing lots of activity through Kaspersky 7.0 regarding Trojan-PSW.Win32.OnlineGames.***  I don't get it - this Trojan is quite invasive and I'm having a hard time determining if Kaspersky is doing it's job completely.  The first time I ran the virus scan on my new computer, the system and hard drives were thick with this trojan.  I mean it was everywhere, system files, HDs, you name it - it seemed like the virus was on the system since installation.  Kas7.0 claims to be eliminating every occurence of this file, but it seems everytime I attach a new storage device (external HD, memory stick, hell - even a new GPS unit!), Kas7.0 digs up some version of this Trojan.

FWIW, this computer has seen extremely limited internet usage, and has never been used for online gaming, or for surfing any of the sites you'd associate with rampant viruses (pirated software sites, peer-to-peer, porn, etc.), at least since I have had it.  So far, it's online use has been limited to MS, Yahoo/Hotmail email (no, I don't open attachments from unknown senders), hardware driver updates, the big online retail sites, and the occasional computer forum.  I have done research on this trojan too, and the limited info I have found seems to indicate that this trojan is picked up while participating in online gaming.

My concern is that there is some hidden trojan file that remains undetected by a registered and updated Kas7.0, and that this trojan places a detectable file (and undetectable ones?) on every new storage drive I add.  FYI, I have reformatted all internal HDs since I received this computer.

Sorry for the long-winded post.  Hopefully someone else can help shed light on this topic...
Bewheeled, in a demonic fashion.

if you bought your computer from dso i believe it is impossible to already have a virus on it becuase since windows is not updated when you recieve it, its unlikely they ever see the interweb

have you tried to search for problems with any other software? i have about 5 cleaners that work on one area or another but i try to have at least 2 that look at the same things, ie addware, if that gets you no where, i would try backing up minimal files, such as saved games and pictures, and reformat completely

Which brings up a question.  Does DSO do a virus check on the systems before they go out?  Mostly curious.  But isn't is possible that some software they have gotten from a vendor had gotten into it a virus?
