Well, the day finally arrived when the man in the brown UPS truck dropped off my newest prized possession. That's right, my Apollo came yesterday. The wait was agonizing but worth every minute! I appreciate that DS takes the time to run the rig through a rigorous regimen of QC testing before shipping the final product to the customer. The packaging materials are durable and managed to keep the rig in one piece and completely secure in its UPS ground trek across the country to Virginia.
So, at first sight the box is big ... 65 pounds big! It is only fitting then that the rig itself is a monster. A big, bad-ass beautiful monster. I mean this thing is gonna take up some serious space and every square inch will be the envy of those that lay their eyes upon it. When I opened the box with trembling hands, a brilliant light (green in my case) shone forth from it and a chorus of what seemed to be one million angels erupted into song. Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit but you get the idea, right? After I finished weeping with tears of joy, I managed to compose myself (barely) and unpack the rig. I connected it to a single 1080p 24" monitor and fully immersed myself in the DS experience. Despite the many favorable reviews, I was still not prepared for the awesomeness of the Apollo. It booted beautifully and without any issues (the SSD is truly lightning fast). The true testament to the superiority of the DS Apollo was when I loaded and played WoW on Ultra settings for the first time. I felt as if I were playing an entirely different game - one that is far more detailed than I ever hoped it could be! I have gone from the dark ages with my old rig in leaps and bounds to modern day with my DS Apollo! (Think moped versus F-22.) I would also like to take the opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the forum members who helped me along in the build process. The tight knit DS family and DS customer service are like nothing else that Ive ever experienced. My DS experience has been incredibly pleasant from start to finish and I would strongly encourage anyone who is interested in purchasing the best to stop looking around and join the DS family! I know that I will continue to purchase future rigs from DS. Edited by jpforensic - 26 Nov 2014 at 11:17am |

Thanks ArkansasWoman777 - my attempt to upload them last night was unsuccessful as the prompt I received indicated that I did not have the proper permission to post images. It appears as though that has since changed so I will post them this afternoon when I get home from work.

The waiting is the hardest part but worth every second once you get your rig. Im still amazed every day at the performance of this system. Still loving the green glow and the questions from the neighbors - "What is that mysterious green glow coming from your office every night?!" Enjoy your Apollos!

I'm green with envy! *wink*
Like chriservin1 (above) I went with blue for my Apollo and just ordered mine on 11/3/2015, so I'll have a month to wait for the delivery of mine and be envious of your new rig! Thanks for sharing the pictures, it looks really nice. Edited by NorrinRad - 04 Nov 2015 at 4:30am |
