Was wondering what people think of this cooling solution:

http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_&mID=619

From what I've read it significantly reduces temperature and noise. However, it turns out DS won't install a cooler they don't sell. Do you know if they will install one of the cards that use this cooler - e.g. Sparkle or Galaxy I think.

Thanks!

i looked at this when it was announced and the concept of it is really good until you realize that instead of blowing hot air out the back of your case like stock cooling would, this will blow it straight up to your processor...

And, you know, the fact that they cool themselves just fine with the stock coolers. Oops

Cooler's nice, but you have to factor in the realistic part of actually implementing the cooler, and how it affects your case airflow, like ender said.

Dragoonseal:

I don't deny it. However, this system is reputed to keep the card cooler and, more importantly for me, run significantly quieter.

Anyway, I've now chosen the Raven 2 case which I was happy to read was quiet even with the GTX 480 and stock cooler.

Wait, you haven't ordered yet? I say put it off for the Raven 2...lol, Raven 3's around the corner. Normally I wouldn't endorse waiting for new tech, but cases are relatively rarely upgraded and refreshed, and this case also involves a pretty unique case line at that too.

Definitely food for thought - thanks ablahblah. Not sure I can wait that long though!

I wonder when it actually will be available.
