Does anyone know if these screenshots are straight up DX 9 vs DX 10?
What I mean is, did the guy take the screenshots with graphics not maxed out on DX9 to make DX10 look better?
If the case is both DX 9 vs DX 10 maxed out I am going to get vista so I can play DX10 because it looks so amazing...
anyone have any input?

skyR, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I just noticed your "new" signature. If it's not a typo, can you say a few words about how you got an E6750 running at 3.2 GHz (20% overclock) and only 1.23 V? I'm assuming that's Vc. That stikes me as amazing!According to CPU-Z I have to push 1.36 Vc at 2/3 throttle and 1.34 Vc under load from Prime95. Vc is actually set to 1.39 in the BIOS. And, I suspect the CPU isn't really stable unless I turn Vc up to 1.40. Edited by Bill the Cat - 01 Jan 2008 at 10:45pm |

Yep, I have a E6750 running 3.2GHz with a 1.23 vcore. Just popped that baby in and fired it up, went into BIOS and put 400 FSB, linked memory, and 1.23 vcore. Went through a 12 hour Orthos without a problem. Very satisfied with the chip I got =)
CPU-Z is really inaccurate so don't trust it. Don't trust anything but your BIOS on voltage readings as I am 100% certain that no software reads the voltages correctly. As you can see... http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=18799576se2.jpg I have all the CPU power savings turned off. I've tried to get 3.6ghz.. it can boot to windows at 1.33v but fails Orthos in under a minute =\ Pretty sure it's the ram causing the fail but I'm too lazy to test any further. And I'm not comfortable enough with my temps to go above 1.35v If your CPU can pass 8 hours of Orthos or ITAT without errors than I would consider it stable and try lowering the vcore more until it fails the 8 hour test. I'm still amazed! Maybe I'm still missing something here. What's the VID for your CPU? For my E6850, the VID is 1.3375 V. I thought VID was basically the same for the E6750, although it is supposed to vary literaly from part to part.... Isn't VID the recommended Vc for running the part at it's rated freq? You hit the jackpot to get a chip that runs 20% fast on 8% less juice.
I've never seen my CPU fail with Vc set to 1.4 in the BIOS; this is the voltage picked by "AUTO". At 1.3875, the second core will barf a rounding error in 4 to 6 hrs. It always the second core. I've never seen the first core fail even at much lower voltages....

coretemp says my vid is 1.125v. some ppl say that the lower the vid, the better the chip... but i'm not sure what it is.
came out of the box with a vcore of 1.37. All Intel Core 2s has a vcore default of ~1.35. Edited by skyR - 02 Jan 2008 at 1:26am |

I'd have to agree with those "ppl". Being 200+ mV under nominal and 20% over freq. is a good trick. What are your core temps under load at that low voltage?

50c in orthos test with highest temperature recorded being 54c. In a normal work/game load, usually 45c.
I probably need a heatsink remount but I'm too lazy to take out the motherboard since my psu isn't modular. |
