ill be in the market in about 6 months for a new gaming pc the build i have now is on this site is i7930 6gb 1600Mhz 1Tb 6gb/s 3 geforce 460gtx 1gb 1200 watt psu corsair windows 7 pro auzen x-fi forte 7.1 blu ray reader dvd burner noctua NH-D14 extreme MSI big bang xpower 4 year warranty
my question is can the geforce 460gtx 1gb run in 3 way sli and if so how well do 3 of them work together i know 2 way sli is about 1.9x time better than just one geforce 460gtx 1gb the nvidia site only supports 2 way sli is this just a bogus option the config on this site any benchmakrs in 3 way sli stats would be apperaited |

In 6 months prices will all be different and many better options will be out, so no point in trying to configure something so far in advance.

when i get my new gaming rig it will have atleast 2 geforce 460gtx 1gb in 2 way sli i want them cuz they run much cooler than 480gtx and better overclockers
again im not sure if they can run in 3 way sli thats why im asking here cuz this is the only place iv seen it offered |

well yea, of course they run cooler, for the exact same reason that a civic uses less gas than a v8 cobra
3 way sli of gtx 460s is a terribly ineffective, inefficient, and ill advised idea
it just makes no sense
its also not better than getting a 480, or cheaper

2 way sli is not better than getting a 480 in any case except for insanely low load areas where the dual gpus will skyrocket and throw off the average framerate numbers for the testing
the minimum fps is all that matters when youre playing a game and dual 460s are not comparable to a 480 in minimum fps

You are under informed. Dual SLI 460s peak to higher FPS than a 480, and thus get a better average FPS score, but they have extremely low minimum FPS. Game play is not fluid, too much up and down and crashing to low FPS scores often. And if a game does not support SLI or does not scale well with it, then you're even that much more worse off. Better to just stick to single GPU solutions whenever possible, in this case a 480 is preferable. Buuuuuut again, I need to stress that by the time 6 months has gone by prices and product selects will be radically different so there's no point in even trying to configure something now if it won't apply to when you actually buy a rig. |

Here's an example of what we're talking about.
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/07/12/nvidia_geforce_gtx_460_sli_performance_followup/ If you can't afford a 480 (you should be able to if you can afford two 460s) then at least get a 470, I wouldn't recommend a 5870 personally. |

awe Kyle, the biggest douche in the industry, or close to it. he managed to get nearly 50 FPS on BFBC2 with the dual 460's, were people that actually know how to test cards got the avg FPS in the 20's.

That card is utter crap.. non reference PCB, super cheap parts, nearly no overclocking ability, non adjustable VRM's.. ect..

I always recommend a reference 5870, good quality components, the non-reference 5870 cards are made with junk parts.
the 5850, and 5870 are great cards, but are nearly a year old, the GTX 470 is a really good choice right now.

No, the MSI Big Bang XPower sucks for the price. The ASUS Rampage III Extreme is a great overall high end board for over the top builds (it isn't for budget builds). Just don't get it for the USB 3.0 or SATA III. |

The Assassin is terribly overpriced, I would never recommend it (+$205 more than a HAF 932, damn). Positive pressure along with intake fan filters will help keep dust out, but you'll still have to regularly dust out your case, just not as often.

The Assassin is the Fortress FT02 made by SilverStone.
In the past DS has used pre-tested Mushkin, Kingston, and Super Talent for their Certified line. Timings are 9-9-9-24. |
