I've tried to post this three times and it keeps refusing because of a picture, so I'll keep it short and sweet. Oops I'm planning to order a build before next summer.

Configuration involves:

Case: HAF X

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme

Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

RAM: 16GB (4 sticks) Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX

The DIMMS on this board are set up as follows:

llll # llll

l = DIMM / # = Processor

I would need two RAM sticks on either side to set them up in Quad Channel and I know the NH-D14 is a pretty massive cooler. Would it all fit correctly or should I go for a Corsair H80 instead?

I was told by a Digital Storm rep that if I wanted to use the Noctua, I should by the DS memory only because it will fit under the cooler.

Like already said, you have to have low profile memory modules to fit under the Noctura. Pretty much every motherboard will have the same issue as the memory is usually in close proximity to the CPU to keep the distance of the connection short. The Noctura and H100i have about the same cooling capabilities so the the H80 probably won't keep the CPU as cool as either of those options... I would opt for the DS memory and the Noctura.

Just glancing at my Asus Rampage IV extreme, if I wasn't running liquid cooling there would be no way to squeeze a big cooler on the Cpu. I use the Adata ram the DS put in and it runs perfect.

Just a thought, Haswell-E, the replacement for the current Ivy Bridge-E should be out around then. It is slated for mid to late 2014.
