At last, after many configurations, including "are you kidding, you won't be able to eat for 5 months", I think I have the one that will best fit my requirements. I have a budget in the $3000 range and expect to order by the end of this week.

The system will be used mainly for gaming and music creation and a little prorgramming.
My goals for this system are:
Stability --that'w why I picked DSO
Saftey    --Raid 1 and 2 DVD/CD writers
Upgrade --nVidia 680i supports the latest QX9650, hopefully it will with other future releases  and I get more money
Games   --I can play the current released and next years games without having to upgrade
The only additional item, if in budget, is to request dual boot XP Pro and Vista

Final Questions (I hope)

1. Which Vista Home Premium or Ultimate (not sure about 64bit since limited applications use it)?
2. Geting the Razer keyboard/mouse, is the software for these loaded and tested when system built?
3. I understand that the media card reader limits the number of USB ports available. Do you loose any/all from the front panel

All feedback welcome since I am sure I've misssed something.

On the OS front, I vote you go with Vista64.
All your 32bit SW should work, except maybe for some utilities like Anti-virus stuff.
And the few 64bit apps I have tried so far work great.

1. Vista premium can only use about 3.12 GB or RAM but has better drivers support

2. Probably, but why use Razer. Personally i think Logitech make better gaming mouse. Check out all the reviews

3. Don't know for sure. I know that the A1 motherboard has 2 usb ports header built-in along with the ports out back.

You have a net gain of one usb port. Each header connnects to 2 USB ports. There are 2 ports available in front. The media reader has a USB port also, so 2, +1... you end up with 3 working USB ports in front.

Very solid config. Had I the same budget, there isn't much there I would change, and the things I would change look like personal preference items. I would, however do the 64 bit Vista and XP pro in dual boot rather than 32 bit Vista. As for edition, I chose Premium. The additiona;l features in Ultimate were nothing I cared about. It's probably worth your time to look through the M$ site and just read over the feature list. Whatever you choose, you're stuck with unless you want to fork over more cash to M$ later on.

Very sweet config.  As far as keyboards go I am a fan of the Logitech g15, new revised version.  As far as mice go the  Razor death adder is the best mouse I have ever used.  Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the feedback

I will be changing the following.
  G15 Keyboard
  Razer DeathAdder
Adding
4Gb memory total     (dual boot XP Pro HomePreimum 64)
  3rd Harddrive 250MB

I noticed the changes to the cofiguration page and they look great.
BUT, why is the QX9650 almost $500 more then the QX6850 if Intel is saying they both cost around $1000+
Wish I could get either one.Ermm
