Justin I have been using the beta drivers for a few days and they do indeed look very promising. Seemed to clear up a lot of my issues I have recently posted about such as flash player tearing, windows media player looking like dung and some tearing in game.

the performance increase overall is just amazing, but the added abilities is more impressive, and then there is the bug fixes... truly amazing driver..... and about time. I mean stereoscipoc 3d!! bezel correction ect. seems like a lot of goodies in one driver update |

The 10.3a's are incredible drivers, those with multi GPU's will get some ATI love soon, like 70% gains in battlefield2 bad company!

So everything was working great with these drivers then all of the sudden everything reverted back to flash player tearing, and windows media player having green verticle scan lines on it. I did a clean install of windows just to get back to basics but these drivers arent helping anything. Ati's own tech support really couldn't help me.
So if anyone has any suggestions or knows any forums or sites that they could point me to please do because if I had hair it be tearing it out right now.
Prolly just gonna slap in a cheap card just to eliminate it being anything else in my system. If it works I may just leave it in lol and forget gaming cause this shiznit is driving me crazy.
Like I've seen it said before...once you see screen tearing you can not 'unsee' it. And thats the truth lol.

lol it may come to that but i will not buy 480 for at least 6 months till they work out their own bugs. so i'd love to figure a fix or something for this card.

So I installed my crappy geforce 8400 gs and WMP, hulu, youtube look beautiful. So I'll be writing ATI and see if they know about these issues and see if they have a fix comming up.
10.3 drivers did not fix these problems for me.

I did not want to make a new thread, but I have a question about these drivers. I never had an ATI card before, and this question is pretty...well its pretty basic and "duh" like.
When I go to the ATI site and get to the page to download the 10.3 official drivers released on 3/24/2010, do I just download the drivers alone, or do I have to download the entire 10.3 suite? Right now I guess I have the 10.2 set, and I just wanted to update my drivers to current as it seems they make all the ATI cards better. I have a 5850. And I can just download then and replace over the old correct? I think I read that somewhere here that you don't have to scrub the old drivers off the machine, you can just go and download new ones and move on. Thanks. |

Depends.. If you just download the driver, thats all you'll get. Otherwise the catalyst is a complete software program for your video card so you can tweak it or do whatever to it. |

I updated to the 10.3 version for my 5850 from the Sapphire Web site on 3-29-10.
Then on 4-5-10 I downloaded and installed something called the Catalyst 10.3 Xcode for Windows 7 64-bit edition:
What does the Xcode do or add that the Catalyst 10.3 released the previous day did not? |

I am also up to the 10.4 version now that it is officially on the Sapphire web site. I used the ATI Overdrive and my GPU clock setting is 765 MHz and my Memory clock setting is 1115 MHz. Temperature is 40 degrees C and fan speed is 21%. Are these good for a 5850?

Looks like the 10.5's floating around were fakes? Don't know but I wouldn't try um at this point till they are official.

10.5's betas were way before the 10.4's.
remember that ATI has 3 driver team, one for performance, one for added features, one for de-bugging/issues. each team releases 4 drivers a year, so it is possible for one team to be done before the other. but yeah just wait for the official.
