first off.....IM BACK!!!
its been a few weeks and well, my hard drive failed after 6 years, who would have guessed. and i upgraded to winblows 764 bit and got a 1 tera WD drive. so. anyway... http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&prod_no=2105 they alos make a p55 version of it. this means i can take a 7650gs and sli it with a 9800gx2. or a 9800gx2 with a 5770. or a 5770 with a different ati card. or really, if you have ANY gpu thats pcie you can "sli-fire" them. now, i know its only 2 slots for the amd board, i dont know about the p55 but there rumored to be making CHIV Extreme and thats on a 890fx north bridge. o and also, AMD BULLDOZER SOME TIME IN 2011, so its going ot be a fun ride of Intel (hopefully we will see some competition again). what do you think about this board, i dont know if this has been arround for some time or what but it would be nice to have my 9800gx2 and 5770 in sli-fire lol! |

Lucid Hydra. Allows the use of any GPU combination. Single exception is that with ATI/nVidia setups, PhysX will still be unavailable. Only way of doing that is via a Lucid Hydra Chip AND driver tweaks. Otherwise, nVidia drivers are set to terminate usually at the sign of a ATI card, in Lucid Hydra's case, it will not function as a PhysX processing GPU.
Asus has been working on the same thing with their Immensity Board, for the X58 Socket. Posted a bit of it on the forums here Powercolor has also incorporated a nice Lucid Hydra chip onto one of their 5770s. Edited by ablahblah - 11 Jul 2010 at 11:28pm |

lucid hydra on a mobo will support any any combo of GPUs. lucid hydra on a graphics card means you can run that card with any combo of GPUs. the main difference is that the mobo will take anything you throw at it, but for the card, only it will pair with anything. think of it like this, the mobo will take say, a 5870/GTX 480 combo. a 5770 with lucid hydra onboard on the other hand, requires that it be present if you cross ATI/nvidia.

a ok, well on to rant about bulldozer, jsut read that teh early intel release and the early amd release in 2011 will basicly be the same. 256 bit fpu, but intles is one per core and amds is 128x2 that can multi thread or combine.
and it uses modules not cores, so, and sence the other achulicuter that amd did, like athlon 64 here, was way powerfull, and the k10/k10.5 is the same thing, thsi might have some power to it!1!
