I am planning to get the ATI 5870 1 GB (which i heard is the geforce 470 equivalent and suck less energy)

but will i need a 2gb one (eyefinity 6 port edition) to play more intensive games like diablo 3 , etc?

if so, would i need liquid cooling (i am not getting dual cards)

memory size on video cards define display sizes, and how many of them they can accept

you don't need LC, the stock stuff on the cards are engineered specifically to handle themselves
