i prefer nvidia, and for the fermi dubut. the best ati is the 5970. i believe the 5780x2 are up there with the 5970, if not better.

the best nvidia is the gtx 295. i have 1 and it's great !! but unlike ati, it has no dx11 support.

which card is the best best? none b/c newer cards are always in development .. it's inevitable.

"Best" is always a moving target. Nvidia cards have generally been the best for the last few years. Suddenly, ATI's latest cards appear to be better.... ATI has a bad rap for buggy poor performing drivers, but that's not really true any more either. If I was going to buy myself a post Xmas present on Monday, it would be an ATI card, but I might get myself an Nvidia card for Valentines Day.

 I prefer both.

Nvidia, Better drivers, and user friendly contol panel. And just strait up better cards.

ATI . I can run  5760 X 1200 resolution and still have fluid game play.

They still do have buggy poor performing drivers. but they have a goal to release new drivers every month. Which is good. Problems are ironed out rather quickly. the ATI catalyst control center is still garbage .

Doesn't nVidia multi-GPU rendering have those nice bendy SLI connectors instead of the stiff circuit board when you have a single port card? Single port being as in only one pinned area where you plug the multi-GPU connector in. Wait, does ATI have those bendy ones too...?

ATI looks good but I prefer Nvidia because of 3d and their stability... I mean look at the facts:

They have been the best for years
Suddenly ATI is actually putting up a fight

I go with Nvidia I don't trust ATI

ATI's been putting up a fight,
just was never strong enough to be taken seriously.
They've been holding out for awhile for 4000 series release.
Rumor is when they released the 4000 series they even sent Nvidia an email with a jaws theme song as intro opening. and they had a estimated set price range for their release of their cards.

People tend to forget, ATI wasn't always last they were up ahead for a bit a long time ago during the legacy card eras. then got blown away by FX series.
I'm a fan of both, I appreciate what ATI does (they help lower the price of nvidia's retarded price range)

But this new Larabee looks pretty promising, and fast too.

i have not ranted in i while and im not just picking you you bullseye

ok im sorry but WHAT. nvidia, the way to sell me the same card (9800gt) and charge me 100 more bucks. o and mine overheats. i have the darn thing in a thermaltake element v, tryed it in a HAF, still overheats.

i have NEVER used a ATI OR intel proudict before, im going to start. that really pisses me off that the rebrand cards, dont place a strong heatsink on it (no ram heatsinks at all) and then tell me im (wanted to place f word here but knew it would get me banned)!!! what is that. im not saying ATI owns. im saying that nvidia has stolen my money for the last time. and dont get me started on intel. given the i7 is faster in games.

$1000-i7-3.(highest)-8 theads

$200-phenom 2 quad- 3.4-4 theads

so the i7 has 4 more threds, ok, i have 800 bucks for water cooling/better air, overclocking majic and its the same FPS in games.

nvidia would have gone barkrupt if intel did not handout money (random thought----have i been spelling nvidia wrong?).

the way i see it, amd is going to be the first to get a 6 core and a gpu/cpu on one chip out. intel 2 to 4 months later.

ATI is going to release 2 more cards mabey 3 in there 5xxx. compleatly dominating, untell nvidia releases there  "fermi"   aka-hardware screwed card (HOW DARE THEY LIE TO US LOL)! then a few months later there 6xxx will be out, nvidia will still be adding cards/REBRANDING THE 2XX cards and selling them for 6 to 8 hundred a pop. if the 3xx beats the 5xxx in performance ati will take a dump on there prices, cut them down majorly and nvidia will have some SERIOUS crap. as soon as intel realises all the money there wasting, nvidia will go bankrupt like CITI bank, and then..... i really dont know.

ya little overload on this post lol. thats just what i see, reading all the info on the interwebs trying to find out when crap is going to be realeased. o by the way, what is up with amd motherboard support. when ati/amd dominates (o wait they are....right now...as it type) the mobo support, as well as there 8xx (or whatever higher northbridge) that will finally give us 4 pcie ALL runnign at 16x.

o and not trusting ATI.... do you use a nvidia card that was rebranded (say you bought the 8800gt) and the next one was realease(the 9800gt) so you bought that card only to realize that it is he same card and you just could have bought a 8800gt for 100 bucks less??   this goes out to everyone that does not like/ trust ATI.

also can you guys conferm that MSi is making a mobo that does not reconize the brand of a gpu, just that its a gpu you you can put a 9800gt with a 5970 in SLI-fire????? and use phyx on ati cards???

anyway im sorry if i mad anyone mad. my opoinions are just that. this is what i think. you have your own opion

Well, I understand that. My 7900 gtx's had same problem but it's not really nvidias fault. it's the company that rebranded it *cough asus*

Again, I am not a fan boy of either but rather both at the same time.

And I'm just going on a limb here but was your 9800gt a asus card ?
xfx and asus seem to be great over-heaters no idea why
maybe cheap parts or not paying enough labor so workers dont care

no idea but i hate assus lol.
always had bad experience with them

I have had both and prefer ATI...atm. Why? because my Radeon 9800Pro(256MB) GPU is still up and running after 8+years of my gaming torture.(I bought it when it just came to market). NVIDIA cards are nice and have been running circles around ATI until lately. But I enjoy them both and welcome the challenge each other company gives the other. In the end the consumer wins always.
