Hi guys,

I am wondering about the new video card, ATI 6990. It should come out march 8. According to its description, it is very good for overcklocking and about 67% faster then 580 gtx. It says there that 6990 will use 450w.

I keep an eye on it, because it might perform almost as well as
2 6970 or 2 570. Does DS will get this card? And the last question, is 750W going to be enough for this graphics, cause it uses 450w and only 300w for other goodies inside of pc. You can correct me if i am wrong in something.

Thank you,

Keep in mind this is just a dual GPU card. As in, it's like two downclocked 6970s in Crossfire.

This card can perform very well on games, now days. I hopr so. Crossfire is better, but for 1 card, is it good enough for 1900 by 1200? What is a benefit of having sli/crossfire, except getting more fps?

WE never recommend dual cards, why bother with sli/cf if you don't have to? its a heat sandwidch, and its oc is never gonna be as good as 2 x 6950 or 2 x 6970, and it will never oc as well either, cause it will get hot.

the same goes for 590.

and at the end you still working with same varm but more heat.

Thank you for your help. Lets see how 6990 performs, when it will come out. 2 570 still be the best choice for me.

We have seen this before in other dual cards, its always the same story, they get too hot, and that will limit their performance/oc. IMHO 2 single cards will always have better performance/oc then a single card with 2 gpus.
