Isn't there a large price disparity between these choices? The Geforce 9800gt SLI should provide better performance. I don't know enough about laptops to be certain.

That would be my guess....

Guess being the key work here........I really am in the dark about ATI...

But I wouldn't think you could go wrong with that Nvidia set up.....Smile

Basically, in the past, ATI has focused more on providing picture quality over performance as well as giving the consumer the most for their money. They've been willing to take performance hits in order to get better color and shading. What this means is, if you can find an ATI that performs close to an nVidia, it will look better to the eye. At least marginally so. With movies and photography, the difference can be more noticeable.

Depends, IMHO, id just ditch the laptop scene and go desktop. You wont be able to get much time or kick out of your laptop for gaming because of heat issues.  But for about 2 hours or so i think you should be fine playing crysis on probably high settings depending on your CPU.

I mean the 4870X2...two 4870s on one card coming out next month...I doubt it will go for 300. I hope I am wrong. Apparently it competes with the gtx 280 on crysis, beats it on everything else and runs cooler.
