My Soundblaster Audigy card will not install. I reformatted Xp .When I bootup "Found new hardware appears but it's for "Multimedia Audio Controller. Audigy is not recognized. I have no IRQ conflicts or any problem like that. Is there something in the bios that needs changed?

If you have a newer mobo, the integrated sound will be better than an Audigy from both a musical and gaming standpoint. I've compared with my mobo and put my sound card somewhere...

Now that you have it installed, I'd recommend comparing sound of onboard vs the audigy. You will likely find that the onboard sound is better.

Numerous times I installed the drivers and it didn't work. Uninstalled each time and finally it did. Don't understand myself either.
Also How do you use onboard sound and not use the card?I'm sorry I'm sort of new at this.

In the device manager you disable the sound card and enable integrated. I forget if you need to do it in the bios or not.

next time you install dirvers do so from the device manager and from the device's properties window

If the onboard audio isn't in the device manager. You will have to go into the bios. Go to "intergrated peripherals" and enable "HD Audio".
