Hello!

Noticed tonight the mini HDMI outs on the gtx 570 cards. Am guessing that means I could get audio from them if I had somewhere to plug them in to.

Has anyone tried getting audio from their video cards like this?

If it's possible there may need to be a new receiver with HDMI inputs in my future.

Thank you

Thank you, Alex.  Just a quick follow up--so if I'm rocking the ODE-3 (570s in SLI), which card should be used for the mini-HDMI output?  Or maybe it doesn't matter which card is used for the audio?

Thank you!  Awesome

You should use the very top video card.

Does anyone here currently run their audio this way?

Ok last question (probably):
Does the mini-HDMI output on cards like this have the same issue as the S/PDIF optical outs?  Meaning that unless the sound is formatted just right it only carries 2 channels of sound?  I'm hoping that mini-HDMI would transfer all the channels.

For example, a friend of mine plays StarCraft 2 and uses HDMI to get sound to his receiver and he gets the full 7.1 that the game produces.  Sounds incredible.

Another friend of mine also plays StarCraft 2 on his ODE-3 and tried using the S/PDIF optical out for the sound...only gets 2 channels and it doesn't sound good at all.

For those of us that want to run our PC game audio through a good receiver, is the mini-HDMI the best way to do that (w/o buying a sound card) ?

Thank you!
