I will be getting a Auzen Hometheater hd 7.1 sound card and I want to know Do you have to connect the video card to the sound card and then to the monitor and speakers or could you conect the video directly to the monitor without going through the sound card and have the sound card connected to the speakers

no in the manual it says to connect the video card to the sound card. then the sound card will add the video to the sound. then take it to a receiver and then connect the monitor and speakers to the reciever. I wanted to know could I just remove the receiver and not have the video connect to the sound card?

Oh I see, I'm no expert but I doubt you can do 7.1 sound from the sound card to the speakers.
I would go sound card to receiver. Edited by DST4ME - 12 Dec 2011 at 3:13pm |

Don't think you can do that either without a receiver, the sound card does not have separate outputs for each speaker, so with a receiver I'm not sure how you would do that.

Hi hotshot146,
You can do this a couple of ways. It depends on if you have an A/V receiver. It sounds like you do. If you have a good receiver you can connect the video card and the sound card to the receiver separately. Your receiver should have several different ways to connect video to the receiver. Pick what matches your video card and the receiver and connect them. Do the same with the sound card. I don't know what kind of outputs you have on the sound card beside HDMI. Now the A/V input signals to the receiver will be combined by the unit and out put as a HDMI signal that goes to the TV. You need to shut off the TV speakers. Wire the receiver sound output terminals to your speakers and select the main room speakers on the unit. These A/V receivers are complicated with a pot full of options and it will take some studying to get all the options sorted out. Here is what I would do. Connect your video card to the sound card as specified by the manual. Now connect the sound card to the receiver with an HDMI cable and you are pretty much done. The sound card combines the audo/video signals and you only need one cable between the computer and the receiver. The receiver will decode the composite signal and send the signal to the TV and speakers based on what options you choose. Frank Edited by FrankW - 12 Dec 2011 at 5:38pm |

Hi hotshot146,
Did you get hooked up? If you didn't I am sure we can help you if we know exactly what you are tying to hook up. I thought it was a TV but now I am not sure. Frank |

hotshot146,
OK, we can hook this up several ways. First, do you have an A/V Receiver or just 5 speakers you want to hook up and your monitor? Do you want to play your sound from a Blue Ray player? You need to visit the Auzentech site and download the Home Theater manual. It gives you all the information you need to hook up various ways. You can connect your monitor directly to the Video Card top DVI connector. You still need to connect your bottom DVI GPU connector to the top (input) HMDI connector on the Sound Card. Now if you have an A/V receiver you can connected directly from the bottom HMDI (output) connector to the A/V receiver. Then your speakers connect to your A/V receiver. This is the cleanest and most functional setup. If you don't have an A/V receiver You don't use the bottom HMDI (output) connector on the sound card. In the box is a Multi Point cable that connects to the analog connector on the front of the sound card. The other end of this connector has six stereo jacks used to connect the speakers, mike, headphones. You will need other cables that have a stereo plug on one end and two sets of clips on the other end. Use these to connect your speakers. Frank Frank Edited by FrankW - 18 Dec 2011 at 12:36pm |
