Hey guys, simple question hoping someone can help me decide. Basically my avg subscription is over 2 days from now and I was wondering if anyone had any insight to add on kaspersky vs eset argument. Ive already got webroot spysweeper, so im covered on spyware. Thanks in advance!

Most folks around here seem to go with Webroot Spysweeper with either ESET or Microsoft Security Essentials.

Thanks for the responses so far guys, I found that maxiumpc review to be very biased. The left out avg/kaspersky in the test, as for MSE I don't know If I trust free virus protection programs.

MaxPC is aware that they didn't cover every major antivirus program and they have said they are going to be reviewing other AV programs monthly. The July edition reviews CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2010 - they give it a 4 out of 10.
Review after review indicates that MSE is very solid despite its free price tag. I have yet to see a review of it that was negative overall. My biggest question is whether MS will keep the program going strong as time goes on and threats evolve. I think MS is aware that they need to assure people that Windows is safe to use to help stem the tide of people switching to Mac. I suspect they will try to keep MSE a top-notch, free security program because a safer OS is good for their business. Edited by JJJJ_Shabadoo - 12 Jun 2010 at 4:39pm |

Well ESET's menu looks alittle basic, I wonder how good there firewall is.
