Topic: Aventum X questions Posted: 03 Aug 2019 at 4:22pm |
Hi guys,
First time poster here! Really interested in Aventum X and have several questions. Apologies in advance if those were already addressed. 1. Is the water block located behind the motherboard tray a standard option? I don't need the HydroLux PRO cooling for my CPU or GPU, just the standard Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (Dual Fan) (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance). If I chose the standard CPU Cooler, do I still get the water block on the back? 2. I've seen builds with front tempered glass panel by DS. How can I order the front tempered glass panel? 3. This system has been out there for more than half a year, any known issues, problems related to cooling, fans, motherboard compatibility, BIOS, etc? Thanks in advance, your help is much appreciated! Welcome to the forum lamgol...
The Aventum Case is a DS proprietary design that’s been at the top of the DS line for years...only the tempered glass panel is new with the X model Aventum. The Aventum X is probably the best water cooled system on the planet, and from your comments you sound like you don’t need that at all. The system has 3 radiators, custom water handling block, and 14 case fans to keep it all frosty cool. It’s actually designed to handle multiple water cooled video cards and a fully Overclocked CPU. It also has room for multiple PSU and has hot swap docks for a lot of hard drives. No they don’t take out all those features. For what you described, Aventum X is definitely NOT the right DS system for you. Sounds like a custom Lynx or Lumos build might be a much better fit , and much less expensive too. What is your budget? What uses do you plan on for your new computer? Is this to be used for gaming...if so what games do you hope to play? What monitor and resolution will you be using? Do you do video rendering or encoding. These things can help us point you towards builds that would work best for your uses. Edited by HockeyBuck - 04 Aug 2019 at 12:46am |

Hi Iamgol Welcome to DS. The water block is part of the Pro set up. The Aventum is a huge system and it is only shipped by freight cargo on a pallet. The Velox is another DS exclusive proprietary design with the window on the right (facing the front of the pc) and it is also very spacious although technically a mid sized tower. Like HockeyBuck stated, detail your intended use, monitor resolution and any special requirements you have and the gurus will make sure you get the best bang for your $. Enjoy.

Welcome to the party.
I quite agree with my friends. The Aventum weighs between 75 and 90 pounds when uncrated, and is pretty wasteful of energy if you don't need its capabilities. Whatever you decide in the end, please be advised the DS branded parts, though not second rate, come cheaper mostly because they lack the long term warranties that come with the name brands available. The Corsair H115i cooler, for example, has a 5 year warranty from Corsair. The DS Vortex is only warranted for whatever length of parts coverage you pay for from DS. Standard is one year. |

Thank you guys! I dont need the Aventum for gaming, but for computer simulations, so GPU is not important. The codes are written in Fortran and C (those are ab initio QM, Condensed Matter Physics programs each having like more than 2000+ subroutines). At any rate, the speed of my simulations is directly proportional to the # cores, DDR4 size and speed (up to 3200 MHz) and quality of motherboard. I am looking at the Ryzen 9 3900X and 32 GB at 3200 Mhz of DDR4 Corsair VengeancePro, Motherboard is MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON. No need for storage, so actually the prebuild options is fine for me (500GB SSD, 1 TB mechanical). My budget is 3-4k, I know I can build the system cheaper with the smaller towers, but I am willing to pay more for the best option out there, if there are good reviews on reliability of Aventum and/or GS customer service in case of trouble.

Actually I think probably Lumos will be fine for me as well. Do you know if GS offers the white Corsair Crystal 570X chassis(I dont like the standard black one)?

Lumos would better fit your needs. I have a Lumos build and its outstanding. They don't carry the white version but I expect DS can get you one. Good thing about DS is that if you ask for a specific component like the white framed version of the excellent Lumos (Corsair Crystal Series 570X) case... and can pay the cost, DS can get just about anything you need. Just ask DS Sales.
You might also find the Velox a good fit, and as you prefer a white case...be aware that DS offers Velox custom painted in white as a $149 upgrade option.. Edited by HockeyBuck - 04 Aug 2019 at 5:56pm |
