Topic: Aventum X Reservoir Lid Posted: 14 Dec 2020 at 7:18pm |
Hi Everyone -
So I just got my Aventum X today and have been trying to get the lid off the reservoir basically all day to put in the liquid coolant. It’s on ridiculously tight and don’t really know what else to do. I’m gonna go to Home Depot tomorrow to buy a Channel wrench to try and twist it off. Has anyone had this issue or have any suggestions at all on what to do? |

Don't use a channel lock wrench. The tops have caps that unscrew with a short stubby 6mm hex (Allen) wrench. It should in the parts box that came with the system. At least that is how the old round reservoirs were opened.

The reservoir should be able to open with your hand, it's just the top cap that needs to be unscrewed. If that's not working, I suggest working with our support team with photos, etc. Here's an attached photo for reference.

Where am I supposed to use the Allen wrench? I don’t see screws that are hex shaped. |

Hi Alex - I already put in a support ticket with the tech team yesterday. Haven’t heard anything yet. I’ve tried unscrewing the top pretty hard and it’s not budging. |

The reservoir lid for my Aventum X (April 2020) was also super tight. I couldn't get it by hand. I used a channel lock wrench with a strip of rubber to protect the plastic similar to what you use to unscrew a stuck jar lid and it came off without a problem.

Somewhere along the way that changed and now we have heard that the reservoir is only 1/2 full. Don't know if that is for all open loop coolers. The loop is full.
