Are Aventum's built in batches like the other lines or are they built as they come in?
edit (batches meaning, 5 orders come in and they start to build - vs starting the build as an order comes in) Just wondering what the backlog is like - I know it's a waiting game and I didn't expect it to not be. Just curious as to how resources are allocated when it comes to builds. Edited by sangnas - 17 Jan 2020 at 2:13pm |

DS is very busy this time of the year. I don't work for them but I would not be surprised if it took two extra weeks to show up.
I purposely wait to buy after the holidays. Last year during before, during and a bit after Black Friday and X Mas comments were coming in hot asking about build timelines. You should email Alex for more official comments. DS is the best and waiting is worth it. |

AFAIK the Aventum is the flagship signature machine of DS. Each one is build specifically to order for each customer.
As far as the backlog, Alex has stated here abouts that he expects to be caught up and back to normal production times before the end of the month, IIRC. Although, as ThePinkGoat stated above you may have to contact Alex ([email protected]) to get the definitive answers. Best of luck! |

Not sure if still correct, but last year DS only did packaging/shipping for the huge heavy Aventum systems on Fridays.

The difference between common carrier shipments (UPS, FedEx, etc) and actual Freight shipments. Most cost effective to have one dedicated LTL pick up day during the week for the Aventums as they are literally strapped and banded to wooden pallets and maneuvered via pallet jacks and forklifts because of the weight involved. |

Honestly - at this point, I think DS is busy all year long rather than just the holidays. Which is a good thing!
You can only watch so many youtube video's about people unboxing their Aventums It was just more a curiosity question - Like they only have specific people who work on the Aventum builds or if it's the next person that's free in queue to start building. I would love a video of a day in the life of Digital Storm! |

That is a good idea. It would show how the process works starting with placing the order. I don't think that there is a dedicated Aventum line. My guess would be that all custom systems are built according to how they enter the actual build queue after getting their particular parts bin full. But that is my guess.

My Aventum X shipped on a Friday which I am assuming is the day they are shipped. Any part that is on back order can muck up the production process considerably sometimes. If lifting is involved for the computer placement another person is highly recommended by me.

Aventums are shipped on Fridays only because they go freight! On a pallet! Which you should keep if you have to ship back. They are huge and heavy!!!!
