    Posted: 25 Apr 2014 at 12:33pm
So I bought a my current computer from DS many moons ago (5 years) and it is starting to show its age. So I figured it was time to look into getting a new one.

Before when I was looking around I was all prepped and ready to build it myself so I was familiar with the tech and knew what I was looking for; now I am pretty out of the loop so I am hoping I can get some advice.

I want to try and keep it under $4k and leave some room to upgrade later (drop in a few more HDs and another video card). The main games I would be running are RTS and 4x games (Civ, Starcraft, Sins of a Solar Empire, Total War, ect). I wouldn't be doing any processing or editing, so nothing to worry about there. And I am running a 1920x1080 24 inch monitor; though I might upgrade later (not to 4k though). I do love my music so I dropped in a sound card. I am not too concerned with OC since I will not be pushing the CPU that hard; plus I've played that game in the past and I am not into the bragging rights anymore. I am a little concerned about airflow so I upgraded the fans.

I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has and I want to thank DS for taking such good care of me last time; I am looking forward to opening another big boxes from you guys again!

Glad to hear your loved your previous system and thank you for choosing Digital Storm again!

As for the build, it looks pretty solid. If anything, the PSU is a little overkill but it allows you to add in another graphics card down the road.

Looks like a very solid build. You might be better served with a virtue build instead though. It would still support a second graphics card, while slimming down the size and cost. Here is my suggested build coming in at $2,933: https://www.digitalstormonline.com/configurator.asp?id=956065
