Hey guys,
I am gonna order a rig in about 1 and a half months so it arrives by the Summer. I was very active in the forums but I got caught up with exams 'n stuff but now I'm back and I think I should get an estimate as to how much I will be using of my budget. I will be spending anywhere between 2700-3500dollars. I plan on playing crysis 2 alot and I will be needing 2 screens (they don't have to be from here and they don't have to be the best). I would like Nvidia graphics instead of ATI. Please post a configuration. Thanks! Bullseye |

I was hoping to get 2 video cards and Zalman fans upgrade. I have no clue about resolution. You don't think I'd need 1200 watts? I want liquid cooling aswell if possible...

if you want 2 x 480 then Lc might be a good idea on gpus, your budget has no room for LC tho.
the zalman fans are loud, you don't want them or need them with the haf. why would you need a 1200w? oc the 480 and get performance of a 5970 or close to it. Edited by DST4ME - 30 Mar 2010 at 5:16am |

not sure what you mean by that, the only thing to add to my config to make it a better performer is a good ssd.

What's an ssd? I was basically saying we can customize it for more and would it be worth sacrificing screens for video cards??

lol what do you mean by "sacrificing screens for video cards"? thats what I don't get.
and when you say customize it more, do you mean add more stuff? if yes then like I said before, the only place to add money so that you would see a difference is by adding an ssd, ssd is the new HDD if you will, (hdd being your hard drive), ssds are much faster then HDDs so your boot times for windows/apps/games will be much faster also your file transfer will be much faster. so for example a corsair 256GB ssd for HDD1 and a 1TB HDD for HDD2. ok that would be great!
By the sacrificing thing I mean I can get 2 cards and two monitors. The two monitors don't have to be 500 dollars for both they can cost 300 dollars and have less quality. |

look for a monitor that has the same Viewing Angle, both vertical and horizontal, and is at or above 170°, this is a sign of a quality panel on a monitor, assuring great picture quality.
these panels are ips panels and they will cost more then the tn panels because they have much better picture quality. an example of this is Dell UltraSharp U2410, people have bought it on sale for $470 including shipping, so look around for coupons or wait till it goes on sale, you want a monitor like that, an ips panel. lots of people here have it and love it. better to get one good quality monitor and one good gpu, instead of 2 low quality monitors and 2 gpus that will be over kill and bring forth sli/cf driver bugs. assuming you get the monitor for $500.
adding a 256GB corsair ssd for HDD1 and 1TB HDD as HDD2 to my above config, brings the config price to $3273, plus $500 for monitor and that equals $3773. now you can always add a ssd later down the road, which then means going my original config $2511, plus the monitor $500, that equals to $3011. |

SSD is solid state drive so theres no more mechnical anythings which will greatly increase speeds of read/write times . So if it takes 50 seconds to boot windows, with an SSD you're looking at around 25 second depending on the kind of SSD you have
In other words its an heavenly angel sent from the pc gods above..

you external can be used as a storage drive but not your os drive.
ssd as mentioned is a solid state drive, it has much faster read and write speed which then will boost your load times for os/apps/games and it will take less time to transfer files. all ssds are not the same, so you need to be careful which you get, some ssds are slower and almost the same speed as a HDD, the ssds you want to get are the intel, ocz, and corsair, Intel being the fastest and the most expensive. as I said you don't need to add a ssd now, you can get one later when the prices get better. |

I would check out the g15 keyboard as its a well rounded gamer keyboard with macros and "hotkeys"
The mouse is like a glove.. Go to your local best buys or whereever they sell mice on display and try some of them.

Total cost: 199.99 + 89.99 + 129.99 + 88.99 + 470 = 977.97 Add my comp to that it is: 2511 + 977.97 = 3488.97 Worth it or not??? |

That Razer Mamba makes me sick to my stomach. Just the fact that it's a wireless mouse makes me throw up a little in my mouth, with having to charge it constantly, having it die on you in the middle of games once the battery stops being able to hold a decent charge, having intermittent disconnects and input lag, having interference from other devices (i.e. speakers)... but wait there's more. Did you read the customer reviews section for it there on newegg? It has a silver reflective ring around the laser which will cause it to spaz out and jitter all over the place unless you call up the manufacturer and have them ship you a teflon replacement ring. It also has a bad laser sensor that is positioned too low and at a weird angle which causes the mouse pointer to jump huge distances any time you lift the mouse off the pad. There are more issues, just read through the reviews, I'm not even going to list them all. All this and it is a ridiculous $137.55 (w/shipping)? Seriously?
Excuse me I have to go find some Mylanta. |

Razer Deathadder
Razer lachesis both of these are amazing gaming mice and if you want to go overboard get the Razer naga (best MMO Gaming mouse out there my opinion) but would only suggest the Naga for games such as World of Warcraft Just my opinion on the keyboard, to me the G15 is not what it should be, i didn't like the LCD screen on it, kind of pointless really, I also felt the Razer Lycosa has better Tactile keys. I prefer my Razer Lycosa opposed to my G15, but thats because the Lycosa is set so the entire keyboard can be a macro, Lots of people say the Lycosa has terrible backlightning on it and that the rubber finish on the keys comes off easy, they are speaking of the first version in 2008, The newer version of the razer lycosa (2009) has excellent backlightning and the rubber finish is excellent, has lasted me over 1yr Again this based on professional gaming preference i am a hardcore gamer, so i found the LCD screen a waste when i spend all my time looking at my monitor. Which basicly the only reason to buy a G15, if your looking for macro keys there are much better options in my opinion. |

I got my g15 on sale for 54.99 at amazon a few months ago. I love it but i don't use the LCD at all. Still up to you.
I have the deathadder mouse and its really good. I have big hands and my only beef about it is the thumb buttons are a little off for me (again i have big hands) All and all stilla great mouse.

I bought the steelseries 7g keyboard and xai laser mouse. Loving them both so far. Although I tend to go for a more professional/not rainbow color'd leds look. ;) up to you. If you get the xai, I would highly recommend their 9HD mousepad. It was basically made for that mouse.
