AMD's won't run as well at overclocks, so i skip them on AMD builds. Better power for buck. Intel's overclock very well. Better performance per buck, i5's still have value too. The Intel will blow your mind. AMD will run pretty well too, but the Intel gives some nice overclocking potential. My vote goes to the intel build if you can afford it. If you want, drop the solid state drive, use only one 500gb drive, and save $100.

blablah
the intel build you gave him is $300 over his budget, AND didnt include monitor/mouse/keyboard... how is that helpful?

dustys build looks exactly right to me.

the problem is blitz that by trying for the instant gratification of getting everything at once, you will screw yourself out of a lot of power, id spend the 1300 on the computer, then buy the rest of it as you can. trying to buy low in this game is a good way to burn money, the closer you can get to the curve now, the longer your computer will serve you well.

and i agree with dusty in that you need to go elsewhere for good buys on monitor.mouse.keyboard. these will add to your shipping and are not covered by your warranty

Not for such a tight budget. Just try to keep your conventional HDD as junk free as possible.

When he says he's making known compromises and throws up a $1300 build, you can infer his budget.
