I am not really looking for any accessories or peripherals. I usually don't turn the computer on unless I am going to game and would really like to get a bang for the buck Rig at a ceiling of $1700.
Right now I am playing a lot of Starcraft II and Heroes of Newerth. Those games are not very graphic intense but I want to buy something that will be a solid machine for a few years. My current rig I got about 3 years ago and has been upgraded a couple times but it basically is: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 4GB DDR2 800 Dual NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT I am totally up for suggestions, but basically I want to keep the total cost including shipping under $2000. (Shipping to Alaska is usually very pricey) I was looking at this ticket but I am not sure if anything would be bottlenecked: 484260 |

you psu can't do sli for you, so no sense in picking sli mobo IMO, 150GB veloci waste of money now indays, either go black caviar or intel ssd, corsair psu since it has its own 5 year warranty, fancy ram for your use = waste of your money, need a better cooler for cpu, SB can be easily pushed, intel has made ocing it very easy, haf for great airlfow, make all the right tweaks and :
Here you go Ticket# 484293 --- $1637 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Overclock the processor between 3.6GHz to 3.9GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: FREE: Hot-selling game with a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 or above graphics card Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Xtra Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty if you like you can go with a 560 gtx instead, you can see how you like its stock performance, and if its not enough, you can oc it and get 570 performance out of it, another way to get the same performance and save money, if your res is lower then 1900 x 1200, then the 570 is too much anyways. down the road you can add an intel ssd and setup is suppose to be like this: HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage so in your case the ssd will be HDD1 and the 1TB will be pushed to HDD2. Thank you for the quick response. Sorry I could not get back earlier, I ended up starting the superbowl a little early.
I am almost ready to buy. I kinda think 1TB of storage is overkill. I don't think I ever went past 80 gigs on my last box. |

The 1TB black caviar is chosen for its size and its also a fast HDD comparing to others, but you don't see the need then get a smaller drive for HDD2.

Thanks, I ended up ordering the black caviar. Right now the rig is sitting at phase 3. So if I get lucky I may get to try it out before the end the of the month.

I suppose I can read game reviews and see what game will let me see what the machine can do once it gets here. Or ask for time off of work and go on a bender until the mailman comes.

Kinda made me think of a kid at the zoo poking an animal in the eye and saying "torture torture".
Thanks for the advice on the machine though. |
