Both the Bolt and the ODE systems are great. With the Bolt, you get a portable, small machine that packs a punch.
The ODE Is bigger and thus allows for more future upgradeability and compatibility. Either way, both systems will run BF4 on that resolution on ultra with 60fps+. |

The most bang for the buck imo. BF4 minimum requirements are for a i5, but recommended is i7. Better cooling on the Gryphon mobo, unless you have a need for the Thunderbolt technology then switch that back. Changed the PSU because as I have learned a fully modular one is easier in the long run. Unless of course you plan to be adding some major upgrades in the near future. Although the CX would not matter if that was the case anyways. Added a SSD because the shear load time of them makes a world of difference with that game. If you have a few more dollars to spend I would raise it from the 128gb to the 256gb. Unless you are only playing BF4 then it's more than enough. Upgraded your cooling to the Noctua. Simple and easy air cooling. Keeps my system with everything pushing in the 50's. Seems like the huge fan block sitting on your cpu, but how quiet it is, is untouched. Other than that I downgraded your chassis fans to just the standard. You would be paying to upgrade one fan in the back. The chassis comes with a top mounted 200mm fan,a front 200mm fan and a 120mm rear fan. Don't need them to tweak your OS just another waste. Plus with windows 8 you'll want it to utilize it as much as possible for gaming. Personally I went with windows 7 because I just don't like that tablet look of 8. To each their own though. If you had a little more to spend I would go this way as well # 890022 Better mobo, gives you more room in the long run. That is just and idea. I am sure someone with more experience will chime in soon enough. |

I vote for configuration 890015 - fits the bill perfectly!

Unless you are the type to tinker (change out components) with a PC, your Bolt build is the best choice. Future upgrade ability doesn't help if you aren't comfortable doing the upgrades. Though, I think it would be better to go with a larger SSD for the boot drive. 240/256GB seems to be the sweet spot for most people for a boot and programs drive.

So I have been screwing around with the customize feature a little and I think I found another computer config that is cheaper but should work just as well as config 890015. This new config is a bolt with mostly the same parts excluding the motherboard and fan mainly. Can I get an expert opinion on what differences this bolt will have from the configured ode? 888449

I am mainly concerned with the motherboard as I know almost nothing about motherboards. My strong suit is the GPU. Can I get an expert opinion please?

The main differences between the Gryphon mobo in the ODE and the Plus in Bolt is its size. The Bolts mini mobo only has a single Pcie slot for the graphic card. No room for an additional card for sli , sound card,WiFi card, etc. Not a big deal for most. Also, the smaller mobo only has 2 ram slots instead of the usual 4 ram slots. Again, with the 16gb already installed, not an issue for most since 16gb is more than most will ever use. There might be a difference in number of Sata and USB ports but still is great for most.
Hope this helps.

Most of your components (short of the Noctura) will fit the majority of cases. The Noctura is so large it needs a decently large case to fit inside. Also, certain motherboards (ATX vs Micro-ATX) will fit in different cases. The ODE & HAF-X are the best for high performance air cooled systems as they use large fans (200mm) to keep noise at a minimum. Other cases can also house these components but might be noisier as the smaller fans might have to run at a higher RPM to keep temps down.
