Hello,
Well my first and only posts were back in Dec 2008 wherein I had some warranty questions. Now I got the bucks to spend but a couple of questions if I may. 1. Asus Board P6t/Rampage Vs Evga x58/Evga Classified. I notice that Evga seems to be the preffered board amongst the configurators here. Why is that? Ive always been partial to Asus, I was always able quickly to sort the wheat from the chaff but no longer. Different issues affecting the P6 and other Asus x58 fill most of the hardware boards. The same with Evga, but Ive never used Evga so its a new thing for me. 2. What is this NF200 bridge issue I read about? Is this important to performance? I read that it has something to do with the bandwith, but that it gets real hot but the Evga boards dont have them???? This is the reason Im gonna let DS storm build it and deal with any headaches. Im too old at 50 to start troubleshooting buggy boards as much fun and educational it might have been years back. So if anyone can enlighten me on the above questions, I would grealy appreciate it and I can stop staying up all night playing with the configuration menus and making hundreds of configurations. I just need more clarity on the motherboards and the NF200 deal Be Well and Again Thanks. Silverwolf. |

Most people select EVGA over ASUS because of their's or friend/family's past experience. Both are great manufacturers, what it really comes down to is that the I/O and ports you need are on the motherboard.
HardOCP did a test between a X58 without and X58 with NF200 a long time ago and it didn't show much of a difference. The NF200 actually did worse as they suspected it to be a latency issue. The NF200 allows the motherboard to always run the PCI-E lanes at a full x16 speed. Boards without it will run the lanes at x16/x16 (dual-SLI) or x16/x8/x8 (triple-SLI). None of the boards Digital Storm offers has the NF200 chipset. The old EVGA X58 Classifieds had the NF200 but the newer revisions do not. You should probably call Digital Storm if you are interested in a board with a NF200 chipset. The only board that comes to my mind that has it is the ASUS P6T6. |
