    Posted: 13 Apr 2016 at 8:09am
To start. I just got my new Apollo (1399141). It just like the pic on the website, minus 1 980Ti (No SLI just yet). Couldn't be happier. What a monster of a machine!

Part of my purchase was the overclocking on the GPU and CPU. I didn't find any documentation on how the over clocking went or what speeds it has been clocked to. Does DS send out that info with the PC?

Also, I checked the forum for good benchmark app to test with could only find one sticky post with outdated info.

Can you guys give me a few good tips on some good benchmarks I can use to test my speeds and temps at load for the GPU and CPU?

thanks!

I just got a new Apollo as well. Loving it.

What cooling did you get on your CPU? I'm asking because I got the Corsair H100i and the system came with the Corsair Link software pre-installed. It does a really good job on monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures (graphing temps over time, allowing for temp alarms to sbe set up, etc.). Seems pretty useful.

I used CPU-Z to verify my CPU overclock.

HydroLux Pro CPU only.

I'll have to look again and see if there is some preinstalled SW. Windows 10 is becoming a bit of an adjustment for me. I wish I had just gotten Windows 7 put in....

Congratulations and welcome to DS. AwesomeWe like pictures Hahaha

There will be way more knowledgeable people with advise posting later but you can't miss with CPUID HWMonitor for system monitoring.

Razz....  DS used to give you the cpu overclock with the shipping notification.   That was 5 years ago, so might have changed.

Use CPU-Z to check your cpu overclock.  Lower left in Mhz when the cpu is stressed.  4400g MHz = 4.4Ghz

GPU-Z and EVGA Precision X for GPU clock, speed, temp, etc.

Unigine Heaven is a good GPU stresser and benchmark.

HWMonitor is great for checking your cpu and GPU temps.  Fan speed also on the card.  The rest of the info is iffy.

Your 980 ti Strix has GPU Tweak 2 software to select from 3 presets or customize it.

ok!

Looks like my CPU (i7 6700k 4.0) is running around 4.5Ghz and cooling is around 40oC

My GPU (Nvidia Strix 980Ti)is running 1.34Ghz and cooling is 76oC

The CPU is water cooled and GPU is Air.

I forgot the name of the CPU benchmark I used but for the GPU I used Heaven.

Pictures will be coming tomorrow. I am in the middle of rearranging my room to accommodate the new PC.

I have been travelling for 15 years and have been using gaming laptops (ProStar, Sagar, RoG and MSI). This is my first desktop gaming PC I have owned since late 90's when I bought my Diamond Monster with 4 megs of ram, and stuck it in an Acer PC. So yeah, I treated myself. =)

What is a good window of temp for my graphics card to be at and what temp should I start getting concerned? I stressed it a few minutes ago. About half way through Heaven stress I hit 80oC. I turned off the benchmark just to be sure. Everything else was in the 40's

Low 80's is my comfort zone for high stress.    I personally try to keep it in the 70's max but every card and situation is different.    If gaming stays below 80 then all is good. Below 85c is generally considered good but I like it lower.

You can use various programs like GPU Tweak, EVGA Precision, etc to set up a custom fan curve to up the rpm sooner if you wanted.   Card manufacturers keep the rpm a bit conservative by default to balance cooling and noise. My fan curve was a 1 to 1, meaning 50c at 50% , 60c at 60%, etc.

My fan curve is 1:1 from 25° - 60°... from 60°+ it increases to 2:1...

If my machine hits 80°c the fans are spinnin' at 100%.

I rarely see temps over 72°-73° anymore.

did you manually oc the card or is that one of the presets?  that number you posted, is it the base clock speed or boost?  it looks like the boost to me.  with that oc, if you want to keep your card under 80C on air you're going to have to run the fans at near 100% while it's under load.  the Heaven bench test is going to stress your card more than an actual game would, but still, you're either going to have to increase the fan speed (which = more noise) or back off the oc and run the fans slower.

the fans won't even kick on at idle.  with a full load and temps around 79C you're probably seeing the fans run at 50%.  you can shave off about 8-10 degrees by increasing the fan speed to 100% with that high of an oc.

So from this thread, and a few other posts, I adjusted my fan speeds to a 1:1 ratio using MSI afterburner, which came with the PC. MY GPU temp during stress tests are running mid to high 60's now. Fan top speed 60-70%.

I was thinking about tweaking the card a bit to see if I can get a little more out of it but I think I'll just leave it as is. It's running everything so smoothly.
