Looking for some opinions here. I'm looking to buy a new machine and have a total budget of $1500, that needs to include shipping.
I'm a little hesitant to buy anything Sandy Bridge right now until the boards are fixed but that seems to be the best bang/buck proc right now. As a note, I dont need hard drives or an OS (but I dont think DS will let you out of the OS, does anyone know?).
What do I need it for? Some gaming (WoW, Empire TW, Civ and some FPS) and digital photo editing.
Anyone have a suggestion for me?

Now this is just an example, since you are waiting till may/april to get the SB, then we need to reconfig, as prices change and a new config is needed to take advantage of any price drops. |

Thanks DST, that's similar to what I came up with
I would be at 1920x1080, so the card should be fine. Do I lose anything with going with a 2500K proc? From all the benchmarks I have seen they are really close once overclocked.

You lose HT, and does help in a few games now but in the future it will play a bigger part IMO, and it does make a difference in apps, justin made a good post you should read it here.
for more gpu power you can oc the card to get 570 performance. Edited by DST4ME - 17 Feb 2011 at 3:08am |
