I want a 30 inch monitor for my new DSO machine since I ran out of monitors(Had 9 monitors, range from 20-30 inch) so any suggestions?

Gateway XHD3000 is the best 30" LCD out there.

My friend has that and all I can say is...its amazing! I just wanted to double check and see what else was out there, I'll probably buy 3 of them and make them into a FSX / Racing Sim display...I think my new DSO rig will be my new FX / Racing Sim machine =P

If that response time is truely from gray to gray, then that is pretty good, but that area has more holes in it then contrast raito

hrm. I am seriously considering upgrading from my 30 Apple Cinema Display to a new monitor.. The Gateway above seems nice and its reasonably priced- it looks kind of ugly (not that that really matters though).. I was also looking into some 24" monitors- think I'll be disapointed going from a 30 to a 24?  I am kind of disapointed that my current monitor has a 16ms response time.

p.s.- what is that horizontal bar in the fron of the gateway? a speaker? is it removable?

Yes going from a 30 to 24 will make you a sad panda, I went from a 34 to 26 for a little better resolution and I was still choosing the 34

Well I will pitch in with a Samsung recommendation. I work with graphics and the Samsung has one of the widest gamuts of the available 30" monitor out there, I think even better then the Apple, quality is astonishing and the device itself is quite stylish.
