Hi BigBraskey...Welcome to the forums.
That's an excellent build but for most bang for your buck in gaming, I tweaked it a bit. I dropped to the i5-4670k cpu, all you need for gaming and changed the ram to 16GB DS standard ram. The little faster ram and taller heat spreaders won't make any difference. I put the money into a gtx 780Ti, the best and about 20% better frames than the 780. You didn't mention the monitor's resolution you use, but the faster card will help across the board. Also a larger SSD, they do fill fast. Config # 923025 Cost $ 2492 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Digital Storm VIRTUE Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 4670K 3.40 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Gryphon Z87 (Intel Z87 Chipset) (Features Thermal Radar) (MATX) System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair CX750M Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Storage Set 1: 1x (256GB Solid State (By: Samsung) (Model: 840 Pro Series) Storage Set 2: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB (Includes PhysX) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Corsair H100i 240mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler (Extreme-Performance Edition) H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz Boost Graphics Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks Portable Gaming: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) For single card you also don't need the sli capable Gryphon mobo, but it is a real nice board so I left it in. Hope this helps and good luck.

Welcome to DS!!
Here's a better build using the 780ti SC which will give much better fps over the standard 780. 923029 $2425 I also switched the CPU to the 4670K (same performance, just no multithreading which isn't supported by majority of games anyway), RAM to standard 1600 DS (won't make much difference with majority games by going higher), switched PSU to EVGA SuperNOVA (longer warranty and is fully modular) and SSD to Samsung (faster and more reliable). If you wanted the 4770K you could go slightly over budget or downgrade the RAM to 8GB (which is all that's currently needed for most gaming). Hope this helps! |

Let me ask. My current hard drive is a 250GB (232) and I only use 95.5GB of that space its a 10k Western digital VelociRaptor. Do I really need a TB HHD or will the 256 SSD be enough

Here's a link with testing Nav from DS did to help us out.
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/unlocked/nvidia-gtx-780ti-review-benchmarks-and-teardown-idnum100/ The 780Ti will play great on a single 1920x1080 monitor. It won't max out all games, no single card will, but for most its very high to max settings. |
