Topic: Best build for ~$3k? Posted: 21 Feb 2009 at 2:21pm |
So I, like many it seems, came across DS through a couple of reviews on some other sites. Overall, seems like everyone here is happy and the machines appear to be very nice.
So, my question is pretty simple (I think at least). What's the best config for ~$3k? My needs are gaming first (24" 1920x1200), music storage second. I dont need an operating system installed (which I really appreciate DS offering in the first place), I need a fair amount of space for virtualization purposes, and lastly, I'll code on the machine. I've messed with configs from watercooled 920s to air-cooled 940s, 295s, 285s, blah blah. Wondering what others thoughts are. |

Change the liquid every 3-5 years and refill as needed... Very simple |

Don't you need to possibly add a little liquid every 6months or so? Or did i read this wrong somewhere? |

you check it once a month by simply looking at it inside the case if it needs refill then you just simply add a bit.

Too bad they don't come with a dipstick so you wouldn't have to bother opening the case just to check the level.
Wait...that's not a bad idea! Well, if I've thought of it, surely someone's already implemented it.

Cool, thanks.
So the other question I would have it why the 920 water cooled vs the 940 with an air cooled upgrade? |

thats upto you, the 920 costs less and we have seen it go as far as 3.8GHz, but we have also seen it do 3.2GHz.
